Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.
I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.
But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.
Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"
How to get the system to actually work well for us is no easy matter.
I have been trying my own middle way.
There is no one way fits all.

Yea @Appleblossom i've got to be realistic about my experiences of dealing with the system. I'm still the same person as before they came into my life. And I'll be the same person after they leave. 60 minutes with an ordinary man probably won't change much. All it could possibly do, is incline me to live up to his expectations of me, because i foolishly believe in the false hope on offer. -which is basically the six steps of brainwashing.

@Dadcaringalone i tried to work with the system and their expectations. But could only ever come close... i couldn't live up to their expectations because of the exact reasons-i found myself needing and reaching out for support in the first place... it wasn't about properly dealing with the contributing factors-it WAS about turning it into something else, that they could identify with, give a name, find common causes for, study and analyze, train people in these areas... and I feel it was taken advantage of, i was mislead, labeled, categorised, diagnosed, medicated, managed and exposed to a system that thinks they know exactly what the problem and solution is... and their last resort is to drug me up to the eyes balls and keep me coming back for appointments... well I'm sorry!.. but that don't really work for me... so many problems that perfectly normal people are faced with, become a prime target for the mhs to jump on; so many many many normal people with normal problems, are funneled to a one size fits all system... with a one size fits all solution...

@eudemonism Its not foolish. Without any hope at all, the mind tends to close down, so hope is important and it is natural to look for hope everywhere possible. I think you have checked out this place and know the limited level of care available. If possible dont ditch it until you have something else very steady, you might still have legal orders to deal with.
Re akathisia ....aka restless leg syndrome ... my thoughts are .. it is energy in the system that is not being utilised ....you have a chemical dependence now, so dont make sudden changes that you cannot sustain. The doctors know titration .... small changes are best ... thats all I can do for myself .... Still there is hope and I agree with posters that many working in mental health sector try ... My grandfather worked in it 2 days on and 2 days off ...til he retired ... so rightly or wrongly I have family members from both sides of the MH divide ...

Re: Sharing the wisdom within
@eudemonism I hear you! The problem is that the majority diagnose according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, a publication of the American Psychiatric Association. I think this is not an exact science but they try to make it one. The only psychologist which I have ever come across who got close to understanding it himself is Rufas May because he has lived experience of Schizophrenia himself. My son says that if you haven’t experienced psychosis how can you diagnose and treat it? This would be the same for mania or depression. Many psychiatrists I have come across just don’t get it and when they start throwing medication at the problem it makes it worse. Not sure exactly what your specific difficulties are because they are common to many. I try my best to deal with my own mental thinking demons through meditation and this has really helped me. I know my brother has a pretty severe mental health condition and he prefers to self medicate through alcohol but his anger is still out of control which has socially isolated him. My son’s tried his best to face his condition and is currently completely over all psychologists but still sees his case worker and government appointed psychiatrist who thinks he’s in remission but I’m very suspicious of such statements and labels because of past experience. My aunty has has bipolar as long as I can remember and according to my cousin her only ever major problems have been as a result of medical incompetence. So we are back where we started mate, it’s a very vicious circle of the medical establishment trying to get there heads around mental health illnesses with completely no lived experience. That’s what keeps me fighting because it’s only through real lived firsthand experience mate that things can change but we are a bloody long way from that. I can’t mention specific medication related problems here on this forum but I have many examples. Keep truck’n mate and do hope one of these days that lived experience makes a real impact on the medical establishment but I’m a realist so I doubt it will be anytime soon.

@Faith-and-Hope
Good morning all...
How are you today?
Just another day of being medicated for MYSELF, can't see a great deal happening, don't feel like doing very MUCH at all...
Regards: cancellation of psychiatrist appointment... -there's probably not a great deal he can do for MYSELF. So i see no point in wasting my OR his time... it's upsetting, I'm not happy about it, but I'm just being realistic-I've been in the system long enough-to know exactly how it works..
