Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

That's fine @Former-Member, I understand.

Part of why I was awake at night all that time was, I think, avoidance of daytime life. But I did used to find a lot of things to keep me interested and mentally active at that time. Especially creativity. To be honest, I miss the times I was up all night and into that. I find it much harder to do creative work during the day. I find the night peaceful, though I know it's an awful thing for people with traumas that keep them awake.

I too take medications that are partly to help with sleeping. They help, but don't fix my issues.

@Mazarita Unfortunately meds don’t fix the issues. My past traumas keep me awake and the fact that hubby is away atm isn’t helping.

I guess the nights are a lot quieter too, well I know they are in my household. What sort of creative work do you like doing?

I make short videos, @Former-Member, all done on the computer. Been involved in media for a long time and had a bit of a career in it earlier in my life. These days it's just something I love doing.

I feel for you struggling with past traumas. I have some too, especially from childhood and earlier times in my life. They bother me a lot less now than when I was younger fortunately. My condition is bipolar 1 (also known to cause dramatic sleep disorders like mine).

@Mazarita that sounds like a good outlet for you and even better that you love doing it. Great that you could make a career out of it too.

I like sewing so do a lot of hand sewing like quilts. Have spent some of the night looking for some inspiration for my next project. Helps keep my mind of things. My profession is teaching but cannot do it at the moment. Hopefully one day I can get back to it.

It wasn't that much of a career, @Former-Member. It's so extremely difficult to make a living as any kind of artist. But it's been a gift in my life nonetheless, gives me a sense of meaning to my existence, and a continuity of something I've done from my early 20s until now (aged 55).

Wow, hand sewing quilts. What a lot of patience you must have. Crafts are wonderful. I love Cheerbear's beautiful crochet blankets that she posts on the forum occasionally.

I guess it is hard to make a career out of it @Mazarita but if it gives you a lot of joy then it is worth it.

Cheerbear’s crochet is amazing. Mine are nothing like that. I normally give them away as gifts. When people I know are having a baby I always try to make them one, that way it gives me awhile to complete them. The last one I did took about 5 months to complete but that’s okay. Now that I am not working I have more time to do them.

Sounds wonderful, @Former-Member, and like it would be a very mindful, calming activity. How lovely that you give them away as gifts. What is your next project going to be?

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

I would like to do another ruffled quilt @Mazarita so in between each material piece you add some ruffled material. I just have to work out what colours I want to do and then go and buy all the material. Spotlight normally have a good variety so will go there in the next couple of weeks

Do you ever post images on the forum, @Former-Member? I understand if you don't because of them maybe being identifying. That's why I don't post my videos. It would be lovely to share though if possible. I imagine that picking the colours would be a really enjoyable part of the process.

Just saw that @outlander and @Bunniekins are up and around now too. Good morning to you both.

@Mazarita I have posted some of the crafts I have done but cannot remember which thread, it was awhile ago now. I might try and dig them up again and post them on one of the crafty threads. Picking the colours is enjoyable.

Morning @outlander and @Bunniekins you are both up early
