@Maggie She’s great, right? I need to remember to listen/watch again when I need a pep-talk or a reminder that I’m not alone.

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

I can relate—I’ve spent my whole life escaping into books, @CheerBear.

I’m doing a Bachelor of Arts and it has been a VERY long process (15+ years) thanks to my messy head. I only have two subjects remaining to finish my degree and I’m hoping I can do those in first semester next year. I was majoring in English, but recently switched to Creative and Professional Writing (since I’d met the requirements already and it meant I could avoid a core English subject that would have caused me to withdraw from the course altogether). I was hoping to go on to post-grad studies but I’m not sure my health will allow it. I’d still like to do honours after I move to Tassie—partly to help me meet some people (but I’m not sure when that move will happen).

Sorry to hear you’re having a meh day. Try to be kind to yourself—we can’t be superhuman everyday. 🌷

Wow @Former-Member! That is an incredible achievement. Two subjects to go is so close now! I can imagine the huge mix of feelings that completing your degree might bring. I used to tell myself that taking as long as I was to get through would make it feel so great to finish (not sure whether that's your way of seeing it though).

Thanks Bookish - I have put on a movie for the kids and am going to see if a half-sleep helps.

Re 'picturing words' if that's what you were saying try Ghost on the Rail in penguin aust short stories or Robbery under Arms .. I could see what was being described. So well written

Hi @CheerBear, @Maggie, @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope

I couldn't resist coming to join this conversation. I have purchased the audio book too of braving the wilderness but haven't been in the headspace to listen yet, when I did I got really upset at myself which was a fair indication of where my head has been at :face_with_rolling_eyes::face_with_rolling_eyes:

Ive read daring greatly and rising strong (which I did nudge to @Faith-and-Hope a few times, not so sure it was gently in the end 😂) I loved rising strong which she covers some of the the main points from daring greatly too. It helped me heaps begin to think about and work on lots of things. Part of my undoing lately was that I failed to get in the arena and went for the cheap tickets watching. It's been a hard and hurtful lesson.

Brene Brown runs courses and she's restructuring her business so that there will be more free content starting in November I think. Her website is her name.

I hope your day is kind to you all. I've loved this conversation. I'm slowly trying to work my way back but still hit and miss.

PS Just on TED this is one of my all time favourite talks too

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

Good luck, @CheerBear.

In my first attempt at the BA, I got to within four subjects of the 'finish line' and the course timed-out (no thanks to my ex-wife, but that’s a story for another day). This time I am determined to get there.

I know the ‘piece of paper’ will be of no use to me at all @TAB, but it’s just about proving to myself that I can do it, that I can achieve something. Even though I know I won’t be able to feel any sense of achievement.

Thanks for those recommendations—I’ll check them out.

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

Thanks for joining the conversation, @Teej. I was wondering who was responsible for @Faith-and-Hope’s initial nudge. 😊

I’ll definitely check out that TED talk. Thank you for sharing it.

I hope your day is going okay. 🌷
