@CheerBear Ah, the power of connection.

I'm so glad you liked it, @Maggie.

Thanks again @Faith-and-Hope for the gentle nudge in Brene Brown's direction. 🌷

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

Good morning all ☺

I seem to have found myself "gently nudged" right into Brene. I remember when I first came across her stories and I was smack bang in the middle of study (possibly an attempt to numb pain through perfectionism) and way too busy to really dive into her work. The words that I did listen to of hers had stuck though and I remember thinking that one day I would love to get into some more. I'd forgotten that until last night.

The timing of last night's conversation was pretty awesome. I do have time for this now and I am on a journey that is all about 'belonging' and 'connection', following what happened in my life that was so incredibly destructive and all about losing those things. I'm regaining them and it's incredibly therapeutic. I'm learning how to sit with the vulnerability that comes with being myself, and inspired daily by witnessing others do the same. "The price is high but the reward is great". (I've also had a copy of "I know Why the Caged Bird Sings" on my bookshelf in the lounge room to read for a long time and may do that soon also)

I wanted to share my feely moment with @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope and @Maggie. I downloaded audible last night. It's been on my to do for a while because I do love reading but am struggling sometimes with my concentration, so an audio book was suggested as a way of overcoming that. I've never listened to an audio book before. It has a free one month trial which includes one book so I chose "Braving the Wilderness" which is narrated by Brene. One chapter in and I've been hit with about 16 million feels, but in a really good way.

F&H I have a feeling I know who "gently nudged" you to start with, and if I am right, they're someone who's presence (even in their absence) continues to give 💜

Just wanted to share that with you. And to say that if anyone is looking for me, there's a good chance I'll be sitting under my favourite tree listening to my audio book with a cup of tea, in a whole world of feelings and thought ☺

Hope today has something good in it for all 💗

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

Good morning, @CheerBear. Thank you for sharing this. You’ve really made me smile this morning. I love the idea of you sitting under a tree with a cup of tea, being inspired.

I just wanted to say that audio books are so good. Because I don’t really sleep, I listen to audio books at night when my eyes get too tired to read. I hope you find them equally as great. 🌷

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

I'm really enjoying listening @Former-Member 🙂 I love the sound of her voice too, so it's a great escape. I have a bit of a long trip on public transport early Tuesday so I want to save some of it for then. Have you read any of her books?

How's your day going today?

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

Sounds like a great idea, @CheerBear. I hope you manage to save some. I find her easy to listen to, too. That is one thing about audio books—some narrators are really annoying. Or maybe I’m just fussy.

I have Brene’s books on my to-read list (along with 1700+ other books—eek!) but I haven’t quite got to them yet. I remember briefly flicking through Daring Greatly a while ago. It looked good and I had planned to buy a copy but it hasn’t happened yet. I’m on uni break now so I’m definitely going to track down a couple.

My day is going okayish, thank you. I just got an sms reminder for an appointment this week that my psychologist had previously cancelled, and it has totally thrown me. My sky-high anxiety is now even more out of control. I’ve sent her an email to find out what’s going on, but she’s not always great at responding. It’s a 2-2.5 hour drive to get there, so I don’t want to drive all that way for nothing. Unfortunately, it has happened before—a 5 hour round trip for no reason. I know I have a few days to sort it out, but my brain doesn’t listen to reason very often.

How is your day going?

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

@Former-Member@CheerBear I listened to Brene talk on vulnerability and shame this morning, WOW is all I can say.

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

I think I'd find some of the narrators annoying too @Former-Member. I wanted to get the Gift of Imperfection but I didn't like the sound of the narrator. It was only a few dollars on play store so I picked it up there for another day (along with all the other books and samples on my list too!)

Are you able/ok to share what you're studying? You really are a book-ish person! I think that's awesome - I feel less alone with a good book 😊

That's really annoying with the psychologist (and such a long trip too!) and would set my anxiety off (who also has a brain that can take a while for reason to kick in).

My day is a bit meh. I've been hit with serious tiredness and I can't really figure it out because I slept pretty well. I'm really struggling to get anything done today :face_with_rolling_eyes: I'm hoping it'll pass soon as the list isn't getting any shorter with me sitting here.

Hope you can sort out the psychologist soon and that your anxiety settles. Anxiety is so tricky sometimes.

@Maggie - so glad you listened too. Just awesome hey? Do you like audio books? If you haven't signed up for audible before you can get one of her books as a freebie ☺
