**Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

**Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Apologies for this long, ranting post, but I have to get it out of my head. I don't care if you read it or not.

For weeks now, I felt so incredibly overwhelmed with sadness; on the edge of tears constantly that never get released. I'm back on medication for depression which doesn't seem to be working after 3 weeks.

Nothing brings much satisfaction anymore, not even my job, which was one thing I had to hold onto to keep me going. And after yet another impulsive attempt and a trip to hospital last weekend, where I also take shifts, my professional conduct & capacity is being questioned by other staff and departmental managers. I don't blame them; I would probably feel the same way.

My SI is actually an acceptable 'coping mechanism' for my BPD when life gets to much, and I need to shut down. But now it's become a burden and problematic because of how often I've presented to hospital in the last 6months. Often if I feel 'safe' enough, I stay home and sleep it off. So now, after feeling like I've burdened health services to the point of annoyance, I feel like I have go ahead and made a proper effort because I deserve to be punished for that. I can't 'urge surf' these SI/SA thoughts anymore. I feel compelled to put them into proper action. Now that I have made that decision, I am scared, that if I really intend to go through with it, there's no coming back, no tommorows.

Why do I now suddenly care so much about dying, when I never did before with any other major attempts? I don't really know, but it's got me really rattled how stuck my mind is on making it work. I guess maybe I want to stick around for a bit longer. But this feeling of hopelessness is all consuming and strong.

I don't know what to do. I don't know who to turn to anymore, as the support services have heard it all before, so nothing they suggest helps. Not even my loved DBT skills help. How do you keep going when nothing helps, loved ones can't reach you, and it's just takes so long to feel any bit of right?

Good morning @Sans911. Not great about the sleep. I've been awake since about 4am with some nightmares so going slow today.

I am glad you got through the night safely. I think you probably have become and expert in managing your own SH/SI. You know what works for you (most of the time) and have become exremely good at distracting yourself and implementing different things to help yourself. I would talke that as a compliment

Have you got any plans for today? Hopefully you can have a rest. How is Cat today?

Re: **Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

@Former-Member - I have the ballet at midday to go to. I'm very excited to see Peter Pan. Such a treat, and for free! It's nice to have something to look forward to. It's a small group of people who I mostly know, and two peer support workers so I'm not anxious about it, thankfully.

Cat is still a little offish, but doing better. He's very vocal again this morning, as he often is. About nothing in particular. He's most indignant that I don't have any milk this morning. He had to suffice with yoghurt, and I've had to suffice with herbal tea instead of coffee.

Oh @Sans911 I remember you talking about that. That will be lovely to go and see especially if you are not anxious about it. I hope you have a geat time there.

Glad Cat is feeling better. I am sure Cat will last one day with yoghurt!! Although I don't think I would last without coffee!!

Morning ladies ......

@Sans911 ..... pleased for you with the ballet.

Find a box of some sort of cat treat and remind your cat every now and then on the quiet who his owner is ...... reward him when he cuddles you, without your housemate' awareness ...... in fact, every time he shows you affection. Works with baby dragons too ..... 😏

So please about the graduation for you @Nell33 ..... that was a stride ...... 💜

The nicest thing she said was that I had become my own expert in managing my SI /SH very well (most if the time-when I don't act on it). That was an interesting compliment

@Sans911 I am 100% confident that you are the expert on your own life, which includes how to manage your SI/SH.

@Phoenix_Rising - umm, thank you I think. It is kinda interesting comment isn't? I'm a master at trying to stay alive when my thoughts want to end my life. I wonder if I could paid to do this for others? Oh wait, others do. Maybe this is where my future path is. Still too hard to see that far yet.

Ive been following, and remembering your post over the last few days. Seems like things are finally falling into place for you to move forward. You so deserve all that is good to come to you.

@Faith-and-Hope that's a good idea re: treats for affection. I give him some at times when he's been good outside. I know when I was at the respite centre, he was pining for me as he almost stopped eating. I'll see if it works.

Re: **Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

@Sans911 Someone important to me told me quite a few years ago that I am the expert on my life. It was a radical revelation to me because I'd always been told to listen to the "professionals." As you might have picked up through some of my comments here in Forum Land, I now firmly believe that every person is the expert on their own life and I have big issues with people placing too much faith in unhelpful helping people. I spent 16 years with an abusive psychologist, with people around me constantly telling me to trust Fred and to listen to Fred. They were wrong. What Fred was doing in our sessions was wrong. Now I have very high expectations of any mental health professional and I make no apologies for that. Given how much they charge, I expect a high level of competence. And I definitely expect them to recognise that it is me, not them, who is the expert on my life.

I am curious to hear more of your thoughts about the comment, if you want to share.

@Phoenix_Rising - our conversation is just above outlander's. I've had coffee, and I'm up for a lively discussion if you are. Btw, that means I'm agreeing with your thoughts but want to add my own
