Staying Safe

Staying Safe

Hi just wondering how to negotiate staying safe with an unwell son.
I believe he may be manic he has created a debt, irritable and aggressive. Friends have commented to him that he is hyper and he commented himself on how he feels he is talking a lot. He likes the fact the meds have got him going ....fast but with it is snapping, anger and aggression.
We attended a community health review following his week in hospital in which he presented well and despite my concerns were told to just go see psychiatrist who is currently away, for follow up.
I am scared for my safety. I have had a drink sprayed around my car and me whilst driving. He has deliberately upended food and furniture on the floor, broken items and seems to think his behavior is warranted.
When he us calm he agrees not to be this way but can't do it obviously when out of control.

Hi @Former-Member & @Shaz51

Thanks for checking we are moving along slowly but at least moving. It’s been 3 and a half months since everything changed irreversibly.
Was contacted by forensic’s to see how we are going. Will follow onto support group and see how that goes. Lost sons friend went and he thought it helped. Other son would like to go.
There is psychiatrist appt Monday with Community Health son has missed two already and we will do everything we can to get him there. They felt he was over medicated so it’s a chance to possibly reduce meds. He is quite flat and not enjoying his part time job since they changed his duties. At this point he doesn’t seem to enjoy any job but at least he is having a go and doing freelance work when he gets it. When he’s not working he stays in bed.
I hate mental illness and wish life was a little bit easier.

Hi @Former-Member

Trudging along. Husband and son away on holiday I’m enjoying some peace.
Unfortunately health issues, sons death and other sons mental health taking its toll and finding it hard to be positive.
We are organising a get together to mark missing sons birthday don’t want it to pass unoticed.
Other son has been steadily working though he just quit one job so we continue with the getting if the jobs but not the keeping if the jobs. Restless. Still processing his brothers death who he was really close to.
After a herculan effort we got him to the Community Psych husband went with him. He hit on well with psych dr and one med was dropped. He wasn’t honest about done of the q’s asked and husband didn’t interject. Hopefully he read the file beforehand.
Thanks for your continued thoughts.

Hi @Former-Member

I enjoyed the break it was good to relax and have time to recharge.
Today is my lost sons birthday. We are going to commentate and reflect with some family and his friends on the 27 years we spent with him. Remember a lovely young man with a compassionate and sensitive soul.
