The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Re: The great yoga adventure

I just did a cobra...

The upward dog is very similar to the cobra - just with your arms straight (onto the ground), & your legs up slightly off the floor (front of feet on the ground).

Ah northern Thailand @soul that sounds lovely. Lots of Thai Green curries?

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hello yogies

I have learnt something thank you! I thought I was doing upward dog in the mornings to stretch my back and now realise I am doing the cobra pose as I am not lifting myself up off the mat and my arms are not forward enough.

I will continue with the cobra pose this week.

Take care, MummaMia

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning everybody,

I cobra-ed yesterday and I've already done so today too. This was definitely a good choice of pose @Adge. @Former-Member we are planning to do upward dog next week. Like you, I wasn't sure of the difference between cobra-ing and upward-dog-ing.

@CheerBear Cobra-ing does give your arms a workout doesn't it. This is fitting in nicely with my attempts to do a forearm-stand. I'm super glad you made it back over to the great yoga adventure this week.

It is super nice to see lots of other cobras in Forum Land this week; @Shaz51 @soul @Anony18 @TheVorticon @Former-Member @Former-Member.

Hmmm...who else can I harrass encourage to be a cobra: @Former-Member (and mini-Nells), @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member.

Here is how to be a cobra just in case anyone has forgotten. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4qrNdMLUpw

@Phoenix_RisingI cobraed last night (with the little Nell's). Once again their little bodies move like mine don't anymore!! Outclassed me easily

Hey @Phoenix_Rising I love your harass/ No - Encouragement...

How could we not be motivated by such gentle prodding...

Re: The great yoga adventure

How are all the yoga-ites going?

I did some cobra-ing today, then mostly other strange poses that I'm not used to (& don't have the names for)...

This morning's yoga class pretty much wiped me out. I was so wobbly (in the one-legged poses) & so inflexible, that it just wasn't funny...

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody,

I have been diligently cobra-ing this week - I just haven't been able to find a moment to check in here! cobra pose was an excellent choice @Adge. I have super enjoyed doing this one. Tomorrow we are going to start a week of up dog (is that the proper term?). I still don't have a clear idea about the difference between this and cobra pose so I'm keen to find out more.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Up-dog or Upward dog, same thing as far as I know @Phoenix_Rising.

It's similar to Cobra, as far as I can tell - just with legs raised up off the ground (feet on floor).

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning everybody,

I know, I know, I'm a day late. Of course, this was entirely planned, because I felt we all needed to practice our waiting skills.

Anyway, this week's pose is upward facing dog. And it's kind-of ok that we are a day late getting started because upward facing dog is super similar to cobra pose. Here is how to do upward facing dog:

And here is how to do cobra pose, just in case, like me, you want to compare because you're still trying to figure out the difference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4qrNdMLUpw

I know this is a little brief today. I am struggling a little at the moment. But that's ok, that's why yoga-ing is so superly duperly helpful.

@Adge I'm glad you think my harrassment encouragement is helpful. Let's see who I can harrass encourage into yoga-ing today:

@soul @TheVorticon @Shaz51 @Ant7 @Mazarita @CheerBear @Anony18 @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @frog @Former-Member @Former-Member @Wildflowers @Former-Member @NikNik @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member
