The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Nice pic @Faith-and-Hope. I did a humble warrior pose the other night where you bow your head down.

Quickly ducking in to report that yes I warrioed today before you come back @Phoenix_Rising. Warrior week has sucked and I am really looking forward to it being over. I'm hoping dog peeing pose week will be better.

I also treed as I have done each day since last Monday. I do really like tree and feel like life would be so much easier if I could spend it being a right leg standing tree all the time 🙂

Good evening everybody, I have warriored today - have you?

@CheerBear I love that you snuck over here to report in before I arrived. I super like being a tree too, and I have been both treeing and warrioring all week. Just think, if we keep this up for a year, then this time next year we will know 50 different poses. What are the chances of us maintaining our momentum for an entire year I wonder!

Nice job on warrioring yesterday @TheVorticon and @soul. I wonder if you have warriored today. @soul I am super excited that you are going to ask your instructor about the peeing dog pose. I have such a funny image in my brain of what that conversation might look like.

I wonder how @Maggie and @Appleblossom went today. Warriors or couch potatoes?

@Mazarita did you say you were sticking with being a tree? Perhaps you will join us next week for the peeing dog pose. It could be risky being a tree amongst a bunch of peeing dogs.

@BlueBay I have only just started going to yoga classes, but I have played around with this website a lot at home. They have heaps of really cool free online classes: https://www.doyogawithme.com/ I finally decided I needed to attend some classes because I'm standing on my head and things like that a lot and I think I need to ensure I'm actually doing it safely. However, I find the online classes on that website great.

I can't quite decide if @Faith-and-Hope has warriored or not. I'm sure she will let me know.

Hmmm...our awesome moderators seem to be slipping in their yoga-ing. I bet they try to say they are too busy when really, everybody knows that the busier you are, the more important it is to practice good self care. Hey @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member remember to warrior!

Happy warrioring tomorrow.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hello fellow yogis. Tonight's class was another Yin. This time we focussed on our chakras. These are the energy centres of our body and apparently we have seven of them. We spent most of the time laying down which I didn't mind as I was feeling rather tired. It was a very relaxing session and I nearly drifted off as we held the poses for extended lengths of time.

No Warrior pose during class but I did Warrior in the bathroom again tonight. @Phoenix_Rising - I didn't get a chance to ask that instructor about the dog peeing pose as she left soon after the class. By the time I had put away my bolster and block and put on my shoes, she was in her car and pulling out of the car park. She has personalised number plates and part of them was OM. Very apt I thought.

Dogs peeing against trees - I am smiling at the visual representation I have in my head at the moment. 🐶🌳

Hi @lovemyboys - we talk about and do yoga here. Maybe you'd like to visit. It's okay if you have other things happening though.

Looking forward to my Candlelight session of yoga this evening. They have candles every session. I think they just have a few more on a Friday night. I actually think they are fake battery operated candles but the effect is nice all the same.

@Phoenix_Rising I did warrior yesterday, half heartedly, hoping today's efforts are better. You are doing great stuff, well done you.

Good evening everybody, I have warriored today, have you???

@soul I hope you have fun at your candlelight yoga session tonight. That sounds pretty cool. Are you planning on continuing on at the yoga studio after your month of unlimited sessions ends? I am committing to going once a week. I think I can buy a 10-session pass which reduces the cost per session a bit.

@Former-Member YAY, you warriored today.

I bet @CheerBear has warriored too - she just hasn't got around to checking in yet.

And I bet @Ant7 has warriored...unless he has been too busy roaming the streets looking for a new yoga studio.

Hmmm...I wonder about @Maggie @Faith-and-Hopeand @TheVorticon.

@soul I noticed you are welcoming other yogis into the thread. Hello @Former-Member. I think I read somewhere that even though you are a yogi, you are a bit busy in Forum Land to hang out here. I know the feeling - Forum Land is such a big place now! Hello @lovemyboys, I don't think we have actually met, but I have read bits of your story. I am Phoenix_Rising and along with @soul and @CheerBear I have just entered the scary world of yoga classes. I'm motivating myself to do a bit of yoga at home each day...and I'm dragging all these other forumites along for the ride. This week we are focusing on Warrior II pose. Next week we are hoping to do a pose that looks like a peeing dog, but we don't know the proper name for it in order to try and find a how-to video on it. @soul is on a mission to try and find out. I don't suppose you know, do you @lovemyboys???

Ok, well I'm now going to head over to Friday Feast. Maybe I will see some of you fellow yogis there.
