I am out at my coffee-shop haunt ...... WH is at his mum's ..... and the kids are all sleeping in. Wolfie is off-duty in his yard, so he is quiet too ......

I know you were fearful of losing your son, that you had to make yourself present in his life or he would forget you, or reject you in favour of his (now-ex) girlfriend's family ...... but if we give the kids their breathing space but keep to the natural space of sending them cards for special events and occasions, and offering to visit and / or help ..... basically keeping the door open for them ..... they stop trying Fight for independence once they realise they already have it. Well done to you ❣️
Do you think he will send you postcards ? Can you ask for one, "if he has time and opportunity to send one" (removes the idea that you are demanding one of him) and see what happens ?

A postcard is a novel idea @Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member. Does anyone even send them these days? Seems more like a selfie on Snapchat is more the go.
The concept of going to a shop and choosing a card, sticking on a stamp and popping it into a postbox is probably a foreign one to those under 30 years old I would imagine. In its defence, that selfie or photo taken via a phone is more personalised.
