Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

This discussion is a follow on from my previous thread Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family, a thread I started when my wife was admitted to hospital for the third time in 6 months and when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. It was a space where I could vent and express my emotions and helped me to process a particularly difficult time not only in my own life but for our family and helped me to hold myself together in order to support my family. For that I am most grateful.

Those of you who were following our journey will know that on my darlings return home I have been encouraged by my councillor to implement some loving boundaries, (lovingly implemented guidelines, not as rules to be enforced), and some self-care for myself.

Now that my darling is home the purpose of this new thread is to document our journey of healing and implementing new boundaries and commitment to self-care, not only so that I can have a visual plan for myself (a bit of self-accountability to follow through with plans in place) but in the hope that it may help others processing similar trials. It will also be an opportunity to track our progress over time.

No wonder you have been tired @Determined. Perhaps it's time for another massage. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Hi @Former-Member sorry for the late reply, it has been a case of when I have nothing positive to say best to say nothing until such time as I can say it nicely.

Our weekend actually went ok and was mostly enjoyable but was ruined by a 2 year old style tantrum on Sunday night after I had returned from dropping my darling back off at the hospital. Thankfully it was only over the phone so the children were not subjected to the dialog. All because my darling didn't want to be back at the hospital and somehow it was my fault if the dr didn't approve her discharge on Monday or Tuesday (when ever she was to see him next). As it turns out he did approve her discharge so by Monday afternoon she was all happy again and all apologetic.

By my perception she has absolutely no idea or care just how stresses about the exam I have tomorrow that I have done nothing to prepare for because I have been trying to hold things together at home.

Then the tantrum because I could not get down soon enough for her to pick her up... Her solution to enable me to go and pick her up from the hospital earlier was to cancel S2's counselling appointment -

Thankfully a friend was able to drive down and pick her up. still being home has added additional pressures that has taken me away form study time but she cant see it. (Came home yesterday)

Then would you believe the hospital discharged her with only 2 days supply of one of her meds and no script.... just as well I went through them before I locked the away. (usually leave out 2 days at a time so she has some sense of self-sufficiency)

called the drs office - voice mail, office unattended,
Called the hospital and they told me to go to the GP.
My reply was that it was completely unacceptable that she was discharged without this in order. the result was they were able to contact the pdoc and have a script faxed to our pharmacy. But still that process took me close to 2 hours to sort out, 2 hours I should have been studying.

Any way... rant over... baby screaming and nothing being done about it so I gusess I will have to go in and sort it while she puts her feet up to relax.

Thinking of you in your frustration. You really don't need this right now or ever. I hope you do okay in your exam tomorrow @Determined.
