Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

This discussion is a follow on from my previous thread Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family, a thread I started when my wife was admitted to hospital for the third time in 6 months and when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. It was a space where I could vent and express my emotions and helped me to process a particularly difficult time not only in my own life but for our family and helped me to hold myself together in order to support my family. For that I am most grateful.

Those of you who were following our journey will know that on my darlings return home I have been encouraged by my councillor to implement some loving boundaries, (lovingly implemented guidelines, not as rules to be enforced), and some self-care for myself.

Now that my darling is home the purpose of this new thread is to document our journey of healing and implementing new boundaries and commitment to self-care, not only so that I can have a visual plan for myself (a bit of self-accountability to follow through with plans in place) but in the hope that it may help others processing similar trials. It will also be an opportunity to track our progress over time.

@soul

Counselling appointment for S2 went well this morning, he announced on the way home that this lady is way better than the other one he went to see and he thinks she is helping him already. (And he does actually actually like the last one we went to see). Makes the drive worthwhile to hear him so positive.

Good news on S2's therapy front but I am guessing you are somewhat unsettled by your Darling's impending homecoming @Determined. I do hope the good times are more sustainable on this occasion.

It must seem like a never ending roller coaster ride. - one that derails every now and then. Thinking of you and wishing you strength to see you through.

Thinking of you Bro, am hearing how unappreciated you might be feeling and that just doing what needs to be done is perhaps quite a struggle. I hope you are able to bring to mind at least one strategy that you have learned that you might be able to put into practice to help you cope better.

Thanks @Former-Member

Had a bit of a turn around this morning, I had an opportunity to express honestly how I was feeling and Darling agreed to stay till Saturday based on how I was feeling. That was a little unexpected but appreciated.

Since then a friend has offered to pick her up on Thursday and stay with her while I am at uni Thursday and Friday but only if I was ok with it. This will take a huge load off so at this stage she is still coming home Thursday. Not having to drive down at the end of the week will be a good thing, todays drive was a difficult.

Glad that things have worked out and everybody is happy with the outcome @Determined. I bet you're feeling more than a bit exhausted. I wish you a very restful sleep tonight.

You'll need to build up your energy for the days ahead. I do hope so very much that there will be lasting changes.
