Flower back & starting over

Flower back & starting over

Good morning everyone and to my dear friends,

@Former-Member@Appleblossom @Kurra @BlueBay @Determined @utopia @Zoe7 @Queenie @Sahara @Shaz51 @Former-Member

I hope you are okay.

EVERY DAY IS A NEW BEGINNING, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, SMILE, AND START AGAIN.

The past 12 month have definitely been a game changer for me. Although it's been over two years of starting to discover - step by step - my mental health issues and coming to terms with the effect my childhood and other trauma had on my mental health, the past 12 months changed my life. I was in hospital three times, learnt more than I ever thought I would (want to) learn about mental health and strategies, adjusted my life and in the end finished the career I have always worked for so hard and wanted more than anything else in my life. I've ended relationships and created boundaries. I've started slowly to accept my inner child and that I actually have mental health issues.

And now I start with a clean canvas. A canvas that I will paint on and over for the rest of my life. Layers and layers of acrylic colours. Space for mindmaps to figure out what's really important for me, space for happy memories and for sad ones, but mainly space for the here and now.

I know my post sounds encouraging and hopeful. I am hopeful that my current deep depression will lift and that I will find enthusiasm to start work on that canvas. At the moment I allow myself to rest. Rest from the struggles of the past 12 months. And at times when the fog lifts, I am encouraged to look at the world with different eyes and explore different opportunities.

You have all made a positive impact on my journey and I am sure there are new friends to be made, so I am back and hoepfully this time, here to stay.

Have a great day everyone x

Hello @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Sahara @BlueBay @outlander @Zoe7 @Shaz51

Another day comes to a close. The nice thing about getting up in the early afternoon it's not long to bed time. I've done some drawing this afternoon. And played with my bird. Tomorrow is a new day.

I'm grateful for the people who help me through the darkness and help me stay here. I wish one day I'm strong enough to return the favour.

Good morning @Niqueeta1 @Faith-and-Hope @Sahara @BlueBay @outlander @Zoe7 @Shaz51@eth

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a community in the real world? Where we meet for coffee and hold rallies to show people we are equal, to stamp out the stigma and show the world, we are part of you instead of hiding in an anonymous forum. Don't get me wrong, the forum is great, but why do we have to hide? We are no different to other people. We are a much larger minority than physically disabled people, LGBTI, ... as we come from all walks of life and all sorts of majority and minority groups, so why is it so difficult to stamp out stigma? I am yet to read & watch "One flew over the cuckoos nest" to see what other people think when I talk about being in hospital - which was a private hospital with a private room. People were shocked (positively) to see the photos I took of the facilities in the hospital. I thought showing pictures I took myself and being there to explain what we did in each room, was more helpful than telling them to go on a website, which they wouldn't have done anyway.

@Faith-and-HopeI loved that picture you sent when I was on bed island. I kept thinking how beautiful it would be to be floating on a sea of flowers like in the picture. Thank you also for all the tips to do little chores when off bed island. I managed some of them yesterday.

@Former-MemberI missed the Friday Feast, was probably tucked away in bed, but it sounds like you had heaps of fun.

@Shaz51I have a parrot, let's name her Polly as I don't want to share her name.

It is 7:30am and I feel exhausted. Bed island is calling loud and clear. But I will try to stay strong today. I think I have identified the trigger for my trip to bed island, it is always a combination of things, but the major factor will be a flashback, that tops everything else off and makes me literally immobile. Freeze is my main problem when it comes to flashbacks.

Hope you all get some good moments today x

Re: Flower back & starting over

Good morning All,

people say I look healthy, I sound upbeat and positive... Everything looks like its improving, on the outside... on the inside I feel broken, even more broken than a year ago, so the pressure is building to keep a smiling face and to "perform", "function", name it what you want.

So I'm packing my bag again to go and spend half the day doing things, mainly travelling to and from appointments and hope my mood will improve.

What we present on the outside is not always what is happening for us on the inside @Former-Member !

thinking of you...

and sending you love and strength...

Good morning @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Sahara @BlueBay @outlander @Zoe7 @Shaz51 @eth

@Sahara your reply about ode ties in your thread made so much sense to me and actually gave me a little confidence boost. I think I am once again a step closer to accepting myself and it has helped me heaps. So thank you for first making me think and secondly answering with your experience.

I've had a few very busy days and I do something towards a new job every day. And I have plenty of time to think and this time it's just feee floating time to think, no pressure, just as if I am floating on my back in a Rockpool watching the waterfalls and waiting for a rainbow to appear. And I know my good mood won't last, and that's ok.

Hope you all have a little sunshine today xox
