Re: when is it time for hospital

@Zoe7 wow that was almost instantaneous! I like how I didn't even have to get out of bed. And it looks far more delicious than one I could have made. You are such a super sweet person. Thank you so much. I hope you get a little rest and peace tonight.

@outlander @Former-Member I 'adopted' the hun and sweetheart vocab from living in London for over 8 years. I use it a lot when I'm caring for a patient. But it's not always appreciated, and I have been told once that 'I'm not your effing sweetheart'. He was pretty riled up. I don't care too much nowadays what they call me, it's often not the patient talking(although some people just can't help being awful humans); it's often their pains and frustration. But I don't tolerate any foul language in my work environment, nor violence or threats to my own well being or others.

I thought you would use that lingo in your work @Sans911 its just those sort of words. Like comforting words but without over stepping the comfort level lf others...
Im sure alot of patients appreciate you. I know people are in pain but theres no need to be violent. Its pity people are like that sometimes. I think maybe they get embarrassed when they calm down and realise what they did or said without realising it....

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander some patients don't back down, and aren't apologetic either at times. I've been a nurse for a very long time, so you learn not to take it personally after a while. I can be either softly spoken and gentle but then I can be soft and firmly spoken as well. You learn to read people and there's often non verbal cues sometimes. It's always interesting. And I've learnt too never to assume anything. You stick to the facts, you state the facts. You don't make anything up or it can come back and bite. Actually, mh patients despite the distress they're in, often remember a lot about the way they are treated. I've often been thanked, and hugged just for being gentle, non judgemental and kind. It doesn't take a lot of effort

@Former-Member it's been sweet talking to you. You and @outlander have distracted me nicely. Be kind to yourself ok. I understand the hopelessness, it's completely engulfed me lately too. Goodnight

@outlander I'm signing off in 15mins. I'm going to try again to get to sleep before midnight not after

Re: when is it time for hospital

Your methods are so simple yet work wonders @Sans911
Sometimes simple really is best hey. I think your a great nurse. Need more of you out there lol

The amount of times ive been and the amount of times I've either said sorry e.g i have a habit everytime i throw up i say sorry or said thank you despite whatever state i was in. I never take it outbon the nurses. Ever. They deserve as mych respect as possible.

I aldo find nurses who are straight up as you are helps rather than beeting around the bush as well
