SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

WINTER BLUES 😞

Does anyone else start getting really down in May? As long as I can remember - may is a difficult month for me, long before the Major Depression label. It spirals into slothful living and sleeping the winter away. Even though I love autumn weather, on the inside I just want to go to sleep and bide my time 'till spring comes - when I know i get a burst of energy back. Lots of people suffer SAD, and for some its serious. Its a well documented condition, and in my case compounds existing depression & anxiety, the tipping point. I noticed here on the forums last year that a lot of us struggled to get through winter, even here in mild Australian weather. What, if any are your winter blues symptoms in the winter?

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Hi @Former-Member - I am having trouble loading this site. Otherwise I would have responded sooner. I hope that you are okay. Please know that I have been thinking about you. I'd even send my pooch to lay next to you so you could pat her for a while if I could. Today I got the bird to sit on my shoulder. Last time I had him that close, he bit my nose. Letting him out of his cage each day seems to have helped. I guess your birds like to hang out with each other but I love how they wake you with their chirping and provide you with entertainment and a warm feeling. I feel so sorry that you tried to reach out for help today and was frustrated. It sucks when you need some support and it's not there.

Look forward to your son spreading his wings and going to NZ. He will have lots of lovely memories to share with you. I'm sending you some more birds to keep you company.

Hey @Former-Member - I read your letter and was blown away by it. You have your reasons for not wanting it up on your thread but I am so glad I got a chance to see it as I now know you're going to be alright.

I was so worried earlier today and was feeling bad that things I had written may have contributed to how you were feeling.

I cried tears of joy that you realise there is hope within you, that you know people here care about you. That you will be okay with whatever you decide to do this weekend and that your son will be fine because of you.

It took amazing courage and insight to write what you did and I want you to know that it inspired me.

I have so much respect for you. I want you to know that.
