I don't say that to complain, acknowledging my limitations out loud helps me with processing and accepting the situation. Always scared of getting on my own pitty train, I dont see any benifit in that and it would be so easy to fall into that trap at the moment.

I don't see you as eliciting pity at all. There's this societal perception that we should just deal with our problems privately. More so for men especially. What you're having to deal with at the moment is huge. It's not a case of some petty case of someone hurting your feelings by calling you a name. It's way up at the top end of the stress scale.

You've done remarkably well to function and I think it's a very healthy thing for you to ask for help whether that be for your mother or MIL to look after the kids or some random person on a forum to listen to you.

Re: Diary of wifes hospital stay - holding it together for our family

I am hoping to head down again tomorrow for a visit @soul but will be responsible and wont make the journey if I am not up for it. Worst case mum can drive me and wont be too offended to wait outside. Last 2 admissions I have visited every day, 200km round trip, darling does not expect it but I just need to see her and hold her. First 2 admissions a couple of years ago it was only every second day. This will be her 5th admission since middle of 2014.

You've been in my thoughts and those of others here all wanting a good outcome for you. I hope you felt that and somehow it gave you strength. There will be hard times ahead and I hope you feel comfortable enough to reach out whenever you need.

I'll be up for quite a while yet so if you need to chat, I'm here. If you don't want to, that's okay as well @Determined. I just wish there was more we could do.

I really appreciate you taking the time to talk @soul, I know yhings are not easy for you at the moment either and feel bad burdening you and everyone else with my problems. It has helped though and I realy appreciate the love and compassion shown here, just hope I can return the favor some time. There have been a couple of posts recently I would love to have responded to but just cant find anything positive to add at the moment.

All those admissions and trips! That's an enormous physical and emotional load to bear. How long is she staying in for or don't you know at this stage? Do what you think is best for everyone concerned. Are phone calls permitted whenever or are they limited?

And don't worry about me @Determined. It's kind of good to know that I am helping someone who is in need. It gives me a purpose especially when I feel I have none. I am getting there.

And please even in the early hours of the night, if you are awake - you should post on your thread. Chances are someone is around. I often wake and check my emails.

I'm staying up to watch the final round of the English Premier League. It's my form of relaxation and escape. Games begin at midnight. If you can't sleep, I'll be here. iPad and phone at hand. I can multi task 👍🏼 @Determined. Hope you do get some rest.

Re: Diary of wifes hospital stay - holding it together for our family

@Determined, when faced with uncertainty, I know what it is like:

To feel afraid
To feel alone
To long to be held
To ask what if
To wonder, am I strong enough?
Too tired to cry
Too tired to rest

Holding you tight, so tight Bro, shedding tears for you, but holding on to hope, defiant hope, for you and your darling, for S1, S2 and S3.
