The Weekly Friday Feast

The Weekly Friday Feast

Thank goodness it's Friday (or TGIF as some say!)

We thought we would start a thread where we could come together every Friday and "share a meal" and debrief about our week.

To participate, there are 2 requirements -

1) Bring a (virtual) plate of food

2) Bring a topic of discussion

So pull up a virtual chair, post a picture or description of what (virtual) dish you're bringing along and say hi and let us know how your week was.

Looking forward to seeing you at our first Friday Feast!

Chat soon 🙂

@Phoenix_Rising, why yes, we got coffee. In fact, we have virtual coffee machine. How do you like your coffee.

And yes, I agree with @Shaz51, 'nothing about me, without me' is an important motto. Love it.

@BlueBay, saw you post in Worry Room. You ok? What are you up to?

@Former-Member what are you up to this weekend? Do the kids go back to school next week?

Hi @Shaz51, I had meant to tag @Former-Member into that post rather than you - oopsy. These forums take a little while to get the hang of .

My week has been ok - thank you for asking. I am very excited because I seem to have finally found a psychologist who is a good match...and given that she is the ninth therapist I have tried in 12 months, this is no small achievement! I know the whole world can seem brighter with just a little bit of support so even though we are struggling to find our way at the moment while she gets her head around my rather complex muddle, it is comforting to know that she is "there".

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @Phoenix_Rising Its great that you are feeling some trust.

My psychologist has mentioned "finishing up" a few times. It made me a bit worried as I thought we were to do long term support. I also feel like a great dissappointment as she was being nice and all that but so many things went pear shaped since October, I am not used to being the cause of these flare ups. I will note my diary to ask her about finishing

Its about the only way I remember to respond to comments .. it bothers me weeks later and I write it down and finally get to it .. I might be embarrassed or forget but writing it helps. At first my eyes were glued to the piece of paper .. I could not look at the therapist and make the statement at the same time .. I am a lot better now.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Former-Member That is really cool that you have such a good relationship with your GP. It has only been in the past 12 months that I have found a fabulous GP - the first one I've ever had who has taken any interest in my mental health issues. Like you, I have never found a good psychiatrist. They all seem to be completely obsessed with the medical model!

I actually got my entire medical record from the hospital quite a few years ago - all 900 pages of it! I needed it as part of a court case I was undertaking. My solicitor said either I could pay her to go through it or I could go through it myself. I chose the latter...yeah...it is hard work reading what mental health professionals write about you. Methinks that some of them didn't realise that a patient can actually access their own record. If they had realised this, perhaps they would have chosen some of their words more carefully
