The Weekly Friday Feast

The Weekly Friday Feast

Thank goodness it's Friday (or TGIF as some say!)

We thought we would start a thread where we could come together every Friday and "share a meal" and debrief about our week.

To participate, there are 2 requirements -

1) Bring a (virtual) plate of food

2) Bring a topic of discussion

So pull up a virtual chair, post a picture or description of what (virtual) dish you're bringing along and say hi and let us know how your week was.

Looking forward to seeing you at our first Friday Feast!

Chat soon 🙂

Darling @Former-Member

We are here for you. Can you

1. afford a cleaner for a little while?

2. Didn't you tell the high School Principal of past issues concerning your divorce and recovering?

Can you ask for a week off?

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi all, sorry I'm late but I go ten pin bowling on Friday evenings (my social life) and didn't know how long people would be around.

Sounds like a few hard weeks out there, though I know about a lot of them from being around here most nights. Hoping everyone has a better/great weekend wherever you are or are doing. The weather is so great here right now, looking at perhaps being able to get out and enjoy some of it. Not always to do even when feeling ok.

Like others I'm wandering around catching up with recent posts but will pop in & out to see who's still around.

Take care all, we need you around!

And yet here you are @Former-Member supporting a new member in another thread! You're amazing

But are you any good at keeping your expectations low? I reckon being a working mother is only possible when 'good enough' is your motto. Trying for anymore just leads to exhaustion and disappointment.

Good enough IS good enough!

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

There is a lot of pressure to never have days off as teachers. Relieving teachers cost the school $450 a day but our state dept only pays a small portion of that (even if i was using my sick leave) to the school and the whole staff has been asked not to take days off if possible... my son was sick on tuesday so was home with him (just a tummy bug/fever thing) then today was off for the horrible family assessment... and my kids (school kids) dont cope that well with a reliever either,

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

This week, as it was just a crappy week, my support worker actually come over while i was at work and did some cleaning! I felt really guilty and now terrified because i had to list all the help that i've had with the family assessor lady..but because i'm back at work now, i dont qualify for support soon. which is ok, i dont want to abuse any sort of system but i will really miss that sense of 'back up' or like there's someone there to help if im realy struggling, but then that just makes me think i shouldnt be at work then or im just gah!! i dont know!

oh well...

thanks @Former-Member - its nice to be able to support others here, it helps to feel like i can contribute something to someone else and be part of something...

Thank you for your company tonight. I genuinely hope for better weeks for everyone ahead. Please try to find some moments of happiness over the weekend. My Sunday lie-in is my own ray of hope for the weekend. How middle-aged is that 🙂

Take care everyone. Hope to chat again next week.

I help out at a youth group so we went bowling tonight also! Our feast was hot chips with chicken salt!

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @Former-Member, nice to see you & I to look forward to seeing more of you around here. I'll be in here a bit earlier next week now that I know people will be around when I get home.

@Former-Member I usually enjoy my Friday bowling, been doing it for a few years now. I have to admit there are days I don't feel like going & days I just don't go, but they aren't as frequent right now. It's just a fun league for me with a lot of variance in skill levels and a few family groups being involved. I'm a fairly reasonable bowler but the handicapping system keeps everything in check giving everyone the chance to have fun & win. We actually lost tonight but that's ok, it's still only early in the year.

I hope you next week is better @Former-Member, and that your assessment went well. Maybe this weekend you can find some of that 'me time' to relax & let everything go even for a little while.

Above all, take care & keep safe everyone.
