Shining a light on schizophrenia

Shining a light on schizophrenia

Hi everyone,

Schizophrenia Awareness Week is kicking off this Saturday and SANE is shining the spotlight on the illness. Check out our latest factsheets and real stories as told by people with schizophrenia.

Also be sure to check out Topic Tuesday to talk about living with schizophrenia, where we will be joined by Hannah, who is featured in SANE's Schizophrenia Awareness Week campaign.

Re: Shining a light on schizophrenia

wow

I really needed to see that

I have just come back from psychologist appointment and I said to her next week I really need some structure, ideas re coping with my contact and non-contact with son who is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

I am very aware that whilst I might have had an intelligent conversation with my son last time that may not be the case next time if there is a next time.

It has been over a week now and I am starting to have concerns.

Clicking on the post just the title is like winning something in the lottery.

Watching the video and sensing how much she is aware of herself is so reassuring. I love the fact that she is so honest about her reaction when first finding out the diagnosis. I have to be honest I felt exactly the same when I heard of my son's diagnosis.

Schizophrenia is not discussed unless someone is directly involved somehow.

Hannah you are very brave. I want to talk to you not about you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your bravery and your desire to help others, to weaken the dreadful stigma. Hopefully from this more awareness will bring better support, help, understanding, compassion.

As a human being no matter what we suffer from we have a right to be able to hold our head up high, stand proud and be respected.

I have the utmost respect for you Hannah.

I am going to include some people to share

@Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @Former-Member @ivana and I ask of you if you can invite others whom you can remember also.

Thank you @NikNik
