14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Any room in that sleeping bag for me?

Hi @hiddenite

I did not have a sense of a future until the last year ... but in the meantime .. life has meandered along ... people doing their thing ... and I am able to collect and compose myself after a long period of trauma.

We dont know what the future will bring ... but time inevitably passes by regardless ...

Can you try and engage with the content in the courses ...

I have seen the down-side of too much discussion about Suicide ... it can become an immature competition ... and get out of hand ... yes it needs to be discussed carefully ...

It is important not to normalise suicide ... it may be a common reaction to certain sorts of situations ... but once it is known that a plan has occurred to someone ... the workers do have a duty of care to you ... not to engage with discussion about it that it will encourage it ...

you can be such a creative person ... try and find at least one positive thing in your classes ...eg that you managed to get through with crying ... or that you said something you are proud you said .. or that you thought someone else said something good .... or smiled ... or had a an insight ...etc ..

I dont know you well enough .... but they are just some ways of looking at being in the groups without collapsing into you old overwhelming or negative tapes.

Re: 14th year house bound

I think @Appleblossom has written so well what I'm feeling too 😉 you are both wonderful people, so caring to each other and deserve to be safe. I do hope that you are able to get some benefit from the treatment that you are being offered Karen. Is there one thing that has sounded interesting so far? Maybe if you share something that they are suggesting helps people we could all brainstorm/collaborate on how we could see that working for each other? Perhaps this place could become more of an active place to help you in your recovery 😊
Hope you are getting a good sleep,
Lj

Re: 14th year house bound

Glad to see you around @Jacques ... Our feelings tend to move around so much dont they?

I had a bad spot and have upped my meds ... but still doing what has to be done ... my carpet has a few cat surpises on it which I put off for a bit ... but next job

I dont mean to butt in ... and I notice if you and @hiddenite have gone quiet. We like having you both around.

A lot of us are upset about the stuff thats been in the news lately ... its a bummer that the powers that be are so reactive.
