14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Hello @Jacques

fair enough it doesn't feel right to start a new thread, it was just a thought.

can I give you some feedback?

I felt really disrespected and belittled by your suggestion that i attend an interest group and talk about my hobby, as if my mental suffering would be so simply vanquished. I've paticipated in many an interest group and each time, I got bullied. it's a pretty cruel world out there in my experience . it doesn't feel like 'reaching out' when Ieave the house & socialise, it feels like putting myself in the line of fire.

when I manage to leave the house I still feel like a prisoner of my own painful mind and my own pained personality; the social anxiety kicks in on top of that, each time I see or interact with a person.

i'm not saying your life is not very difficult, that my life is more difficult than yours, or that your life is more difficult than mine. it's not a competition. I'm sure both our lives are painful on a daily basis and wracked with mental anguish, just in different ways. i posted to say that I struggle with people, conversation, human relationships and loneliness, and being housebound and having social anxiety is a part of that. I hoped I might connect with others expereincing some of the same things.

I reached to the whole forum with my post, but I also reached out to you and feel that you cut me loose and implied I should get lost & not post again on the thread. that hurt. and feels disppointing.

OMG @Former-Member, i am so sorry my post came acroos this way. me and my stupid mouth, i always do this, i mean something and it is taken in completely the wrong way. My appologies @Former-Member, i hope i can make it up to you.

What i ment by the hobby groups is you might find it more comfortable to talk about your MI after you get comfortable in the interest group, i know i really struggle talking to people about my MI until i feel comfortable enough to do so, i just thought a hobby group would be a good ice breaker to get to know people, some people like minded, it always helps for me to be able to ease myself into talking to people if i have something in common with them.

I am so sorry you where bullied, it is a cruel world, i have been bullied most of my life.

I totally understand @Former-Member, i never feel free, i feel like i am always a prisoner too, i am always frightened and on edge, it gets worse when i have to leave the house.

I am so sorry, i did not mean that my MI is worse than yours, everyone struggles, i am so sorry my post sounded like this. i am so devistated, if you would like i can remove the post, i am sure the moderators ca ndo that, i can't believe my post sounded like that, i don't want you to go, i like talking to everyone on here, i have real trouble speaking to people, because i have not been around people for 14 years my social skills are really lacking, i am so sorry @Former-Member, i really wish their was a way i could make it up to you.

Take care

Jacques

Hi my Angel,

Yes I do now understand, I am seriously thinking of only talking to you now, it is just too much stress, this is the third time now someone has misconstrued what I have said, thank you for not taking anything I say the wrong way, I must have said some upsetting things to you too over the time, if I have I am so sorry.

I have always had problems socialising, now I know why I remove myself off from the world, I think I will continue to do so.

Well just aa few minutes to go before I have to go out. I am already shaking, and have chest pains.

Karen thank you for continuing to be my friend. I so don't deserve your kindness, you are a wonderful person Karen.
