14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi Karen,

I know today is going to be tough for you, my thoughts are with you today.

Remember these steps.

  1. keep busy
  2. remember the good times instead of the bad ones
  3. do something nice for yourself
  4. remember today is just a date, just a memory
  5. keep safe
  6. remember you have friends who care

Hi Jacques

Today is going to be tough. My thoughts and emotions aren't good.

I went to the supermarket and ran into the police officer that called the ambulance and ended up in the mhu.

Trigger

Then I got to the house and the bathroom window was wide open. I know I didn't open it because the winder is broken. That's the 2nd time it's happened.

I'm feeling really unnerved, scared and shaking.

This day is not going to end well. I have an awful feeling of doom.

Sorry j

Karen

Re: 14th year house bound

Ok Karen,

The morning has not gone well, the supermarket incident is unnerving but to be expected you both live in the same town. Just breath, take a moment take a deep breath and try to relax all you muscles I know you will be very tense.

The house, well sometimes when a house is vacant people think it is their right to go in. Make sure today you shut that Windows and nail it shut so no one can open it. It is probably kids mucking around or something like that.

Karen I know it is tough, too much going on today, maybe a day to go bush.

Remember the I pending doom is just your anxiety, it is most likely nothing will go wrong, I get this feeling a lot, like something bad is about to happen.

Just take a minute, slow everything down watch your breathing.

I am here for you anything. Just take it easy today

Re: 14th year house bound

thanks Jacques,

The problem is when I get that feeling of doom it normally is.

The police man brought everything back.......

I know it sounds stupid but I'm sure my husband is haunting me.

I know I'm so dumb for thinking this but stuff just happens.

Paranoid not good.

Can't go Bush too hot 37 today.

I tried sitting in the car yesterday it was 35 and I was sweating profusely after an hour I felt really unwell.

Nothings going to work today

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi Karen, I know I can't get rid of that in pending doom feel either, I know how bad it can be seeing people from your past, remember last weekend, it brought back so many unpleasant memories for me.

Yes Karen you are not stupid, I have the same thoughts, like I made it happen that I am poor, that every thing that has gone wrong is my fault, Karen it is the anxiety talking, nothing more. You husband is passed, he can't hurt you any more, the feelings and thoughts you are having are just that, thoughts.

Oh gosh yes I forgot about the heat. Ummm maybe go to a quiet Cafe and have a long lunch or go to the library and find a quiet corner.

Please try Karen, you are so strong, you can beat these thoughts. Maybe go to the library and write a letter to your husband asking him to leave you alone, I know it sounds silly but it might help get those thoughts out of your head and onto papaer

Re: 14th year house bound

ok I've put a screw in the window.

The letter sounds like a good idea.

Jacques can you please tell how to get normal letters, in my panic and shaking I've changed the letters and don't know how to fix it.

Please stop laughing at me it's not funny j 🙂

Re: 14th year house bound

Good girl, if any windows are open from now on screw them shut. It might be an idea one day getting an alarm fitted, I have one on my home, no one comes near it.

Karen just find the post you want to change and click edit to the right if your name.

I hope you have a little smile on your face. 🙂

Re: 14th year house bound

Wow Jacques your just too smart for me lol

Boy you should charge for helping me, you teach me so much.

The house does have an alarm system except I don't know how to use it. No instructions and the previous owners refused to show me.

I have just put security chains on the doors.

I will change the locks another day.

I've also got chains and padlocks to put on the gates.

Thanks for your help again.

And I know you are still smiling.

Re: 14th year house bound

Karen you are a quick learner, OMG Karen i never thought of charging you for my help, that sounds fantastic, from now on every time i help you, i want you to say something nice about yourself, that will be the cost of my help, how does that sound? i hope you like my idea, because it is going to be the cost from now on, renewed self-worth, that is something money can't buy.

that is no good KAren, you should see if a security company can fit an alarm that uses a swipe card, that way yu don't need to remember pin numbers.

good girl, i am glad you put security chains and i am glad you are going to get the locks changed, another thing that works for me is security lights, i have 7 around my home, no one will come near the place because of the lights, maybe eve nsetup a desk lamp on a timer, to turn on and off so it looks like someone is their.

Karen it is my pleasure you havehelped me through so much, i am glad i can pay back the favour.

Take care my angel, i hope you manage to go to the library or somewhere with AC, it is too hot to be out and about.

p.s. i am only smiling a little bit

Jacques
