So I arrived here at midday today. Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange. Not sure what to do now. Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel. Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.
That is true @Owlunar - they do have a directive to get people back to work and that's understandable if you're wanting to return to that workplace but if not they have to assist you in finding other employment or paying a lump sum. My psychiatrist has worked on workcover cases and has filled me in on some of the stuff they do. They are really just another insurance company and therefore do not want to pay out. In your case @utopia it really looks like incompetence and not having any idea how to manage people with mental illness. Workcover have accepted your claim so now they have to fix you and if it involves multiple hospital stays then so be it until your fit to return to employment of some kind. Having a good advocate and lawyer has really helped me - going through a lawyer really puts them in their place when they try to weasel their way out of their responsibilities or push you around and it also forces them to make decisions rather than passing you from one person to another. Great that they are authorising another hospital stay - hopefully it can put you on the road to recovery. All the best and keep warm.

Re: My Hospital Stay
The mental health system truly is lacking to provide crisis support - really does need an overhaul. We have found this in the past with our daughter too. They really let her down. Frustrating. Sorry you are finding this too - it's a sad state of affairs when we need lawyers to make them do their job. Good to read your mum is helping and that you aren't totally alone in this...
I hope the wait isn't too much longer for you @utopia, to gain the care you need. Thinking of you 💕🌹🤗xx

Re: My Hospital Stay
@Former-Member. I don't know anything about WorkCover paying a lump sum. All I know is they stopped making fortnightly payments in March. So now I'm on Centrelink Newstart. Can't pay the mortgage on that. The jobs in the area - are not for me. They are either above my abilities - or are full time - or they are in a company that has a highraci of manages and bosses. They don't get it. It's not that I don't want to work. It's that I can't. Mum is pissed off with me. I've slept all day and haven't rung my son for his birthday. He's currently in the middle of his soccer game. So I'll send him a happy birthday text when he finishes. His phone doesn't ring or allow voice calls. Mum said I just have to get up and do what needs doing. Stop being lazy and start doing. She said when she went through depression all those years ago - she just had to keep going. Life goes on she says. Makes me feel worse. Doesn't help me at all. It's all just too hard.

Re: My Hospital Stay
Hi @utopia .... 💜💕
Just tick the basic boxes for now Hon ... eat, sleep, wash in some form .... you have the two fur babies to look after .... if you feel up to doing something else, do it ..... otherwise what can you distract yourself with while you're waiting for cogs to turn ?
Find your own way to celebrate your son today ..... I have a tray of photos of my kids that I keep around the place .... everyone who comes in leafs through them, which shuffles them, so different ones end up in top. It started accidentally. I made a scrapbook for my S1's 18th, intending to do one for each of the kids, but life got scrambled and muddled, and I ended up with only the one, and the tray of photos left over (I had photocopied them all). As the tray stayed there, it got added to with other random photos that were floating around the house, including S2 and D3 ones, so it's sort of an interactive photo album of all of us now.
In amongst the muddle, that is one little element of me. Your son can't stop you from honouring your relationship with him for yourself, your own way ..... my dil keeps S1 to herself now, more often than not, but I celebrate him in my heart and in my own way, whether he is with me or not.
I hope this helps you a little .....
Hugs 💐💕

Re: My Hospital Stay
I spoke to my son. I'd left a few messages. I asked about a dozen questions. Got a few responses. . Wished him a happy birthday. I know it's not what he hoped for his birthday. But it's the best I can do today. I'm a mother - yet I can't even focus on that now. My brain is not functioning. Can't pull out of this depression. So my son has to suffer. Just feel useless. Pointless. Simply breathing.
