Something’s not right

overwhelmed by everything

overwhelmed by everything

I have jelly legs tonight, literally feel wobbly and panicked. I saw a new support person today. Went through the usual basics of past history outline which is difficult enough and so draining. Then explaining that there are court things going on etc. There was also supposed to be a document coming from my ex today through courts about custody stuff but nothing has come. So anxious about it and then they dont file it on time. The waiting is what i hate most. once something arrives i at least know what it is and someone can do something about it (i.e. lawyer).

Was anxious before i went to meeting as it was my lil guys first day back at kindy after three weeks off (holidays and illness) and he screamed at drop off. He hates me leaving him... even though i know hell have an ok time eventually and he's usually ok when i pick him up.

Have also had a pinched nerve or something giving me shooting pains from my neck up over my head towards one temple which has been going on for a few days. Its happened before and last time i put up with it for nearly a month before i forced myself to do something. So i have booked in to see a chiro tomorrow - which is also a huge stressor for me because i hate being touched. Plus I have a cold which is not helping either and i'm so embarrased about having a runny nose in public i usually just hide when im like this (its not that bad, and i have no problem with othe rpeople using a tissue in front of me, sneezing or being otherwise human! i just cant reason with myself that its fine for me too gah!)

Also have a medication review by telemed with the psychiatrist tomorrow and need to explain why im not taking one medication because of the high dosage they (GP and him) keep insisting on prescribing me to help me sleep at night. I have been so frustrated over the last month with noone listening to me tell them that i can not take something that knocks me out so much that i dont wake up to my kids in the night. And because i'm not taking anything at night i havent been sleeping more than a couple of hours. Which also does not help my anxiety which is another reason i know they want me on this medication but i dont feel safe driving on it either (especially in the morning) but there is no other way to get kids to school/kindy - too far to walk and in opposite directions. And also scared to be honest with them (though i will be coz if i try to fake it i'll just go bright red and be hopeless) because of the family court stuff going on. Also need them to do something about the other medication im on because i'm feeling so sick everyday from it and only eating after lunch time if i take a nother medication for the nausea, keep my seabands on and eat everything with ginger. Anyone have any ideas for approaching the drs with mediaction issues? I'm sared they just think they know whats best and wont listen (again). I'm so nervous but i have got a girl (my previous support worker of 2 visits... before todays change...) coming with me and i have explained to her what i want to tell these drs about how hard these medications are in my life and that i dont feel like they are helping all that much after nearly 10 weeks on them.

I'm so over everything being so hard. Im on the highest dose of their medications and still dont want to get out of bed in the morning, everything is a struggle. What is the point in life when everything is just so hard?! This is the worst day I've had in a while.. maybe tomorrow might be better...

Re: overwhelmed by everything

Hey @Former-Member
You are halfway there with your own solution for talking through the concerns and side effects you are having with your meds..because you've written it down here, maybe you could write it down on a piece of paper?
They are very reasonable concerns to have especially when you are a sole parent so hopefully by writing it down, you can chat about it tomorrow...and see what alternatives are suggested..
Good luck with the chiro too...and hoping legal papers are delivered in a timely manner and that your little guy enjoys kinder as the week progresses...

Hey @Former-Member

I really feel for you - SO much going on it is quite overwhelming for anyone to deal with, even without a MI too. I know just what you mean about the waiting and the unknown. I am there with my 6yo, having gone through it with the older two years ago. I guess I have got a bit better at trying to park it until something I can do something about arrives. But when you know something is meant to come and a bit about it that can be horrendously difficult to park. I find it helps me then to do a bit of a mental (or even written) checklist of what might come, what my response might be and then have a bit more success parking it.

I think Sandy's right too - you have done such a great job explaining yourself about the meds and your reasoning. You are a single parent and you need to function, you have tried this and it's not working for you - it is a very reasonable argument. This is not so hard to understand. Good luck with talking that through with them. I am glad you have someone coming along to support you.

I'm glad you're going to the chiro. I am very particular about who I allow to touch me too. So when I find someone I feel comfortable with I stick with them. The whole thing sounds stress and body-memory driven. I hope the chiro can give you some lasting relief. Definitely not good to put up with for weeks on end. Good for you for tackling it ASAP this time.

It's so hard when little people are distressed at separation, it's hard to know what to do for the best and our very understandable confusion sometimes seems to add to it. I hope he settles down and starts enjoying it soon.

Keep up the good work, including taking care of you. No easy task.

Hope for a time we and our kids can thrive endures...

Kindest regards,

Kristin

Re: overwhelmed by everything

Thank you Sandy,

Yes that is a good idea to write it down. Then I can always give it to one of the workers at the meeting at least.

I hope my lil guy does settle. We have a good routine at kindy and i try to just ignore the behaviours as best i can to follow the routine the same way each day. it just really hurts.

Dearest @Former-Member

I'm SO sorry to hear that. Sometimes others not "getting it" can be so painful and isolating, giving us a sense we are utterly alone. Finding people who do "get it" to help on our journey, especially with MI help and parenting, can be such an excruciating journey. It's had me at the brink feeling like I would go insane with fear and grief many times over my life. It sounds like Karen had a similar experience in her day.

Do you know the poem Footprints? I hope and pray that you both might have a "Footprints" experience of somehow getting through this, without even knowing how that happens, but coming through doing what you need when you need, and emerging from this long dark tunnel into a lighter kinder world for you and your children.

We are here, we all try to work at "getting it" - though even then sometimes I feel like I, at least, am grasping at straws and missing the heart of understanding.

Hope for someone who "gets it" and really helps endures...

Kindest regards,

Kristin

Re: overwhelmed by everything

Thankyou,

Yeah i agree @kristin I dont always get myself and sometimes i find myself swinging from one place/idea/thought to the opposite. But i just wish sometimes they took the time to actually attempt to hear me! i met with my support worker this morning and she is lovely. She will be a great advocate for me if i need her which gives me some feelings of relief.

Everything with court is a massive mess/ or feels like it at the moment. A huge array of ridiculous/nasty and hurtful claims they are making to make me look like an extremely bad/unrealiable witness such as that I faked my need for hospitalisation and illness to delay court processes. Its just made it all so much more real how bad court is actually going to be. they also dare to say that my being abused in childhood could be why i've 'made up a story'. A friend said its just an intimidation tactic, but its working.

I feel like in a day i went backwards about a mile but trying to remember that nothing has really changed since yesterday morning or the day before? sigh! but my focus is scattered, my resolve is lost and im trembling. Medication is not helping and the side effects are just making life so much harder. But not many options in that regard.

Life goes on and i need to remember that i started this to keep my children safe.
