I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Hi @CheerBear,

I feel so sad that your soul is being crushed right now. I gather we are still sitting in the muddle rather than getting up again yet?

I know you are superly duperly desperately hunting for a house, but I can't remember if there is a deadline by which you need to find a house??? I feel super mad that anyone in a country like Australia can be in the pickle that you and your LF are in.

In that case, I'll send more hugs, @CheerBear. I have to admit finding a place to live in the commercial market has often been a fairly last minute thing for me. Which has often meant high stress, and then a sigh of relief once a place is found. Sending huge support to you for how hard it is at present. Fluffy pink blanket sounds like good therapy for tonight.

Re: I'm in a nest

I had about sixish weeks @Phoenix_Rising and that's kind of all changed now, or not but I don't know for sure. And now we might get to stay here, except we actually can't, and maybe we won't be able to even if we could but that I'm not sure of yet either (it's just been suggested is likely). But moving is probably impossible after today and if even if we could there's nowhere to actually go to. And there is what I can share of my housing muddle here as it stands tonight. Which is a bit different to how it was this morning :S And I kind of like the idea of moving to the moon now 🙂

I think I'll sit until Thursday when my MH worker comes and uses her thinking brain for me because mine is broken. I will ask puffer fish to solve the riddle from over that way ➡ for me tomorrow 😉 (it made me laugh though).

I'm so tired Phoenix_Rising. I'm feeling so smashed up after the last couple of days and it's not right.

@Mazarita I don't know what's going on to make this so hard here. I'm thinking it's the market and our application itself. It would be big time stressful with the last minute dash to find a house. Thank you for your hugs 💗

I'm melting into a bit of a puddle now so I'm going to say goodnight and ride it out under my blanket.

Hope the night is ok for all 🙂

Re: I'm in a nest

Greetings lovely nesty ones.

Thank you for your kind words, @Appleblossom.

Hi @CheerBear. I’m sorry the last couple of days have been so horrid. I’m glad your MH worker has been supportive. I really hope tomorrow (okay I just looked at the time and realise tomorrow is already today … I mean Wednesday) is an easier day. You need a break from yucky/terrible/bus-ish news/messages/events. I wish you a calm, quiet day. (I’d wish you a amazingly brilliant day, but hey, I’m a realist.) 🌷

You gave me such good feels with the mention of Great Day for Up. I have so few good memories from my childhood (so few memories at all really) but book memories are by far the greatest. And I super love that puffer fish loves exclamation marks (although I feel for your poor head, I really do). 😊

Keeping with the puffer fish vibes, my heart nearly exploded when I read about the saved lost hats. 💚💚💚 And again at the thought of @Phoenix_Rising and puffer fish having ‘mountains of fun playing with inferential statistics’. So many big warm heart feels. 💚 (And those hearts are my heart feels, not hearts being piffed at your head @Phoenix_Rising—just to clarify. 😁)

I’m glad you like the unicorn, @CheerBear. I looked for the most 'CheerBear' emoji … the bear was too brown, but the unicorn (on my mac at least) had a touch of pink/rainbow about her. 🦄

I should be sleeping right now, but sleep and I are not (and have never been) friends. I’m heading to the city tomorrow to see my psychologist for the first time in seven weeks. I’ve sent her an email with all the stuff I need to talk about because I know once I get there I will lose my words and need prompting. I’m kind of dreading it. Sometimes she can be so good, but other times so very not good. I really don’t need help to feel like rubbish about myself—I do a great job of that all on own. Compiling my NDIS application and reading awful things about myself in my old medical/hospital records has been soul destroying, so I really need her to not kick me while I’m down (so to speak).

Good night, everyone. I hope Wednesday is what you need it be. 🌷

Re: I'm in a nest

Good morning in the nest ☺

Today has dawned a bit brighter! I didn't need to take sleep meds last night and managed some good sleep (until about 3:30) which means I've woken up much bouncier than yesterday. I am really looking forward to a day off from housing stuff today. Unless someone actually rocks up to this house, which the only person I'm thinking would do that has busy Wednesdays and won't, I'm not planning on even thinking about housing today and will screen calls and emails if they happen. It feels very needed. I'm going to give myself a 1 hour limit on annoying housework jobs and then spend the rest of the day doing feel good things, which I'll figure out as I go.

My soul shatters feel so much less so in being around here. Thank you all who add to that 😊

@Former-Member - I really enjoyed sitting with my coffee and reading your post this morning. Your realist comment made me giggle. I think I used to be a lot more "have a sunshine filled, bright and sparkly, rainbows and lollipops aplenty, day", than my more recent "hope today is ok/good enough/less awful than yesterday". I quietly hope for the first for everyone, but know it's not so realistic often too.

Reading about your feel goods gives me warm fuzzies and makes my heart smile (love that). The unicorn is so me 😊 I love them!

That really sucks that you and sleep have never been friends. It definitely would make life a lot easier if sleep could get along with people better I think. We have a bit of a love hate relationship and times when we aren't vibing are extra hard.

My heart sunk a bit reading about your appointment today. I completely agree that you (and everyone) definitely do not need help feeling rubbish, and can understand how awful and soul destroying it can feel to read things about yourself. The times when helping people are very not good, can be so very bad 🙁 I also definitely understand the losing words thing, and hope it helps to have sent the email. I remember you saying it's a big journey in, and think it's a driving journey for you? Do you like music (if so, what type)? Driving and I also have a love hate relationship but one of the things I do enjoy about long trips, is the forced time out with music. I'd be lost without it. Please use the safe forum landing spot if it helps, even if it feels scary 💚

I really hope today is a rainbows day for you bookish, but I also hope it's not a terrible day, and if it is a terrible day, I hope there's still something ok about it, even if it's a tiny ok 🌸🌈☂

Hope the same for everyone 😊

Hi @CheerBear, so good you have woken up bouncier and brighter. I continue to read/sit with you, and send extra support, through this part of your life journey. Happy to hear your plans for today! So wise to pace yourself and regroup energies.

Hi everyone, an early morning greeting to all from me. Sending good wishes for your day.

Thanks @Mazarita, for your gentle encouragement and helpful ongoing sitting/reading along 😊 Glad to hear your mouth is feeling happier and breathing is a bit easier (that's kind of important!). Hope the day ahead is a good one for you 😊

Good morning @Mazarita 🙂 It looks like Narnia here (street light and fine misty/rain happening) but it sounds like a rainforest (on a main road haha).

How are you this morning? How was your night?
