I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

No not that far south @Mazarita 😀
I know, it was very warm.
Was on the GC few months ago.
Stayed in a lovely unit with views of Surfers Beach.
Super busy there now. 🌊🌞🐚

Re: I'm in a nest

Good morning in the nest. Thanks for your comments re the blanket 😊 I really appreciate having here to share it with.

@Former-Member - it's good to see you. I hope things are going well for you. I'd love to hear how you're getting on.

@Former-Member - yesterday sounds really big! Even positive and fun adventures can be exhausting, like it sounds yesterday was for you. Pushing yourself to step outside your comfort zone is hard work and I think lots of people can 'fall apart' a bit after doing so. I love @Mazarita 's comment about looking for small improvements over time. Hope you have a smooth and calm day today.

@Mazarita - you did well too, to get out for a walk after being hit with your sickness. I hope you enjoyed the company of your friend and that you were able to make it home ok 🙂

@Faith-and-Hope - I read somewhere that you're off on an adventure with one of the BDs this weekend. Hope it's good for you both, and maybe a little break from the tension.

I'm enjoying the quiet stillness of the morning before it turns into busy chaos as we get ourselves ready for adventure Saturday. Hope it's a good day for you all 💗

Aww! @Phoenix_Rising
I love the pic of the turtle. 💜🐢 So true.
As long as we move forwards and not backwards. 😀🏃👍💟 Good morning.

Good morning all - @CheerBear @Mazarita @ohmygoshIcan'tthinkatthemoment 😂 @outlander @soul @Faith-and-Hope
💜💕

Apologies if I ever don't tag anyone. It's not my intention to leave people out, it's just difficult to remember everyone sometimes. 😀💗💟

I'm still snuggled in bed in my snuggle gown having coffee and toast. Well, I'm actually ready for my 2nd one. ☕
Not sure how much I can do today, but will catch up on washing etc.
I feel a little better in myself because 2 ladies said yesterday that they thought that I was 15 years younger than I am. Yes, 15. 😮😂
Oh my gosh! Thankyou kind ladies. 😀
I definitely don't feel my age and I don't normally tell people, but I wanted to know how old people thought I was.
A lady asked and I said, guess and then I'll tell you. 😂
That was the highlight of my day. 😀

I hope everyone has a nice weekend and that CheerBear enjoys her adventures with her LF 😀🐠🐟🐋🐳

Re: I'm in a nest

Good morning, nesters.

@CheerBear, I did make it home okay yesterday, breathing with huge difficulty and walking like a snail along the beach, stopping when I needed to a few times. Still having a lot of trouble with intense coughing and thick, rattling congestion on the chest. C told me that last night he could hear me coughing in my sleep all night, punctuating by swearing... yes, while asleep! That was probably because it is hurting so much to cough around my diaghragm, ribs and even back. He could hear it all from his room on the other side of the little flat.

@Former-Member, I don't think I'll be getting up to much today either. It was a big challenge getting out yesterday in my sick state and am fatigued from it this morning. Still in my nightie. This all means the big challenge for me today will be boredom and restlessness. I love that your new friends yesterday thought you were 15 years younger than you are. How old are you? I'm 55. I never worry about telling people. It's almost a point of honour for me that I've got this far!

Greetings to all passing through this thread today. Hope it's a good one for everyone.

Re: I'm in a nest

I know you understand about the fatigue etc @Mazarita 😩💜
I don't like spending the day in bed, although that's probably where I should be.
I guess I'm embarrassed to stay in bed, with daughter and hubby here. 😮😕
I worry that people will think I'm lazy, but FAR from it. I like to achieve that's the frustration.
Sounds awful the coughing etc you have.
Definitely sounds like you need a big rest day too.
Hmm! Yes, about the 15 years, where did it go? It's a blur. I've just survived. 😮
I had my daughter very late in life. Had chronic fatigue, PTSD etc....... when I fell pregnant, that was very difficult. But, because of my age I couldn't wait. Having a baby was very important to me, but II spent years crying every day from exhaustion etc. So, I guess there's progress going on. I don't cry every day. 😀

*Zoe sneaks into the nest ... leaves a present for @CheerBear (and anyone else who is nesting) and quickly retreats across the rainbow footpath back to TOR...*

Re: I'm in a nest

@Former-Member, that is definitely progress that you don't cry every day now. I don't cry much these days but used to cry rivers when I was younger. These days I just tend to kind of well up at emotional things, or leak (possibly hormonal) tears at inconvenient moments. C'est la vie.

@Zoe7, hi. Are they coloured liquorice straps? Whatever they are, they look pretty. Thanks! Hope you get some relief from troubles today. ox

Re: I'm in a nest

Yes @Mazarita rainbow coloured licorice - one of @CheerBear's favourites. It is too cold here to deliver gelato - so I went with licorice instead (and I didn't want to leave gelato out of the freezer for too long - not knowing when CB will be around to collect it - melted gelato is just not the same!!!)
