Something’s not right

i dont really know how to react or feel or what to do..?

i dont really know how to react or feel or what to do..?

Hi guys

im having alot of trouble moving forward from this situation and any advice would be helpful

So when I was about 9 I was offerred a horse to ride as my mums boyfriend owned a riding school and no one ever used this horse as she was suited to beginners so they offered her to me and said if I do the work with her which pretty much included rebreaking in then I could ride her and take her to horse shows and do pony club with her and she was mine to keep for as long as possible.
So I worked on this horse for 6 years and had this horse almost perfect but not for beginners still as she use to buck but as I trained her up she was so trusting of me she almost seemed like another horse for other people and she hated other people riding her. I took her to pony club, beach rides, road rides and taught her how to travel on a float and came home with many ribbons even if they were 5th it didnt matetr to me. This horse was my best friend and I spent every waking hour with her when I wasnt at school.
After these years though, mum and her boyfriend broke up and without a word or warning, my mum got a phone call saying that if I was to enter the property they would call the police on me. I never even got to say goodbye to her 😞

it breaks my heart every time I think about her. And my sister- her pop s the one who owns the horse so my sisters still Is allowed on the property and when she goes up there she talks about her without the intention of hurting me but it breaks my heart every single day. I havent felt the same about horses since nor have I been able to form a connection with one since then and this was 6 years ago 😞

and do you know what makes it worse, where I live the property is pretty much at the back of our house and theres abike track and every now and then I go for a walk along there ad I see her and I call her and she knows who it is I can see it in her eyes but she cant come over as theres far to much gap between the fence and where I am. Sometime I wish I could just jump the fence and go see her. I miss her so much

Watch about Christian the lion as @Appleblossom suggested. the guy that had him is my cousin, would you believe, and their story illustrates our love for animals, big and small, loving and letting go. I had a horse when I was about 11 or 12 and lost him to tetanus even though he'd had his needles. To lose someone so close, animal or human, leaves us all with intense feelings

I know letting go is hard. After a fire, we had to rehome our beloved cat with no chance of keeping in contact. I know @Former-Member how hard it is!!!

Keeping you in my thoughts. Bb.

How did you move forward

Well, @Former-Member I do still think of my animal friends. Afterall they are part of our life story. What I try to do is remember the good things and know deep down that they, like your horse I imagine, loved me as much as I loved them. And feeling loss, unfortunately is part of that love.

Try not to dwell on what we are missing, if you know what I mean. I sometimes find it hard when people just talk about these situations, not meaning to hurt, but not understanding your feelings either. Is That how you feel when your sister talks about your horse. I know it's hard but know that you had a positive influence in his life and, although some people don't believe it, they remember and don't seem to hold any grudges. They too remember the good things.

That's how I have tried to move forward. People say it's just an animal, but I know how important they are. My dog is sometimes my lifeline and when some say he's getting on and won't be around for much longer, I cringe. He means so much to me, as your horse did/does to you.

I know you've had rejections in the past but a last ditch letter, as suggested, explaining your deep feelings for your horse, and the impact he has had on you and you on him might just get a more positive response.

Think about it anyway. Hope this has helped, not too much of a ramble....

Bb

Thanks @Baileyboy
I can give it a go but i just cant seem to let go. Its too hard. And i know she remembers me and also our bond was strong as when i go back through pics you can see it in her face and in every picture she moved closer to me all thr time and it was like she was hugging me
Hard to explain without a pic but i cant put a pic up theres too.many features recogniseable to others

@Baileyboy expressed it really well.

Wow thats amazing re Christian the Lion, yes they were a couple of Aussies visiting London!

I guess there is Born Free and Free Willie as movies to help in the letting go.

Just saying that you will give it a go @Former-Member will help. I was very sad when my cat in Sydney died, I was 9, but I still feel connected with her 50 years later and peaceful when I visit the area where we buried her. In reality the gardeners would have dug her up, as we lived in an inner city area with lots of concrete and few green patches.

Watch Blue Velvet, give yourself time to saturate yourself in your love for the horse and your experiences with her. Letting go is only part of it, its more about coming to terms with today's reality and finding a way to live with it. For you because it is tied up with blended family and past family home properties it IS MORE COMPLICATED, but your creativity will eventually find a way to honour the relationship and be open to new opportunities as they present themselves.

Its good to care, but dont let it cripple you.
