Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Hmmmmm ..... I wonder what else can be made from them..... might go for an Internet meander later ..... I really enjoy the finger-knitting too.

Re: Craft Corner

There's some interestng ideas out there, making a cord, plaiting them together; knit joining cords together to make hats and blankets and bowls; weaving them into other things.

Really interesting ideas @Faith-and-Hope would love to hear what you decide to do, if you find something that takes your fancy.

@CheerBear I managed to set up my light by my chair tonight, so am able to do a bit more crochet while watching tv. Arms still wear out really quickly though, so no marathon sessions again yet.

I now have the two armholes set in place and will soon have to decide whether to have a hood, a shawl collar, no collar or, in other words, what sort of back neckline am I going to have with this one!

I need to remember it will e more summery so no need for full coverage for warmth.

Hmmm, maybe just a bit of a shawl/ fold over to it, yeah, that will work, then I can add to it if the front needs something to hold whatever I do there in place.

Gosh, talking that out has really helped me set in place a bit of a design, I have no idea what I had planned when I started it, that was about two years ago and I haven't bothered to get out the notebook to check.

Perhaps I should do that .... could be enlightening couldn't it....

Hi Sunshower and everyone else,

Your shawl idea sounds lovely. What a wonderful idea 🙂

I hope it works out well.

Re: Craft Corner

Hello everyone in the corner here today, and welcome to the forum and to craft corner @Pepperpot!

Thank you for your kind words.

Do you have a craft you enjoy? Feel welcome to share here if you'd like to.

My shawl things are based on the usual mandala vest patterns that I change to adapt to how I like to wear them, so they don't end up remaining an ordinary circle. Sometimes I add a hood, sometimes a drapey shawl collar and usually, varyingly designed sleeves.

Hi @Former-Member and everyone else,

Everyone is so welcoming here. Thank you and you’re welcome too 😊

Oh wow, your shawl sounds really intricate. I’m impressed. What a skill! I don’t know how to crochet at all but I always admire crocheted items at shops and markets.

I used to like painting and drawing plus I’m okay at origami too although I have struggled to find the motivation lately. I have been wanting to create a mood board. Maybe you will all inspire me here 🎨
