Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Not doing so good right now and have to eat, get dinner cooking ahead of time. Thank you for your kind wishes, no, don't do good with 'not knowing', but the doc and chemist explain ahead so I get time to adjust. Gosh, if you'd known me 40 years ago and saw me now, you would wonder what happened to me! so distressing to be so in capable!

@Former-Member ah, I see. Do feel welcome to add those few words when you post, won't you, it seems to make more sense as to why the image is there for this thread - or is that just me?

Definitely no rush @Former-Member. With the public holidays I have a few days to work it out and I really don't want to put pressure on you to reply so I can definitely work it out myself if you don't get back to me or aren't up to/don't feel like replying.

I'm sorry to hear you're not doing so good right now but can understand how things can throw us off like that. I feel a bit of the "if you'd known me before" thing sometimes. Amazing what stuff/life can do to us and hard to see the impact it can and does have on us.

Sorry @Catcakes - I probably should have mentioned that.

It's a CAL (crochet-a-long) project. CALs are, from my understanding, often released in parts week by week by a designer and people everywhere have a go. Most of them have the written pattern, youtube videos to follow, and hints and tips, and the more people who make them the more the hints and tips grow. They're often pretty big, so separating it into parts makes it less overwhelming I think. My two mandala blankets were a CAL project and I ummed and ahhed over whether to do that one or one called 'Sophie's Universe' both times.

From the bits I've caught @Catcakes, I don't think there would be many who'd think the circumstances you are faced with would be a walk in the park, but I agree that the way we experience things are very individual to each of us. You do have a heavy load and it's understandable that things are troubling.

Think they’re about to get trickier.
Thankfully I have capable kidults who have just done the shopping ( and brought me chocolate).
If my partner needs surgery, I’ll be torn between him and Mum .
