Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Good wishes for a most pleasant Saturday for all in the Craft Corner. *makes room for some more rocking chairs with side tables for tea and cakes*

They are adorable, aren't they @Bunniekins, so proud looking. Are you getting a chance here and there to work on your scarf? I hope so. I think I have compiled the sewing machine list now so will get it up here today I hope.

@Catcakes I hope you're going okay and you're getting a chance to make one of your beautiful dolls too. Were those links in the Craft Ministry Austalia link in @CheerBear's post up there ^ of inspiration to you?

@Teej do feel welcome to pop on over to talk about any crafty things that inspire you, won't you. If there's a craft you'd like to know anything about, I'm sure there's someone here who can help with that too.

@Phoenix_Rising Very pleased to know you are working attentively on your Narwhal, can't wait to see it when finished.

@Appleblossom and @Shaz51 lovely to see you when you pop on by. Are you crafting anything at the moment, if you want to share that is.

Working on a good day of more panels on my door screen today. finished the first one last night and it worked out beautifully.

Pleasant day wishes for all.

Re: Craft Corner

My physical crafts are mostly on hold for a while @Former-Member @CheerBear @Bunniekins apart from writing and singing projects ... sewing jobs .. finishing tapestries ... framing various pics ... painting the back of the house and upgrading to porcelain bowls in bathrooms. I have been laying low and working on sorting out psychosocial emotionsl stuff. Top priority is my bedroom, sorting paperwork and desk. Such a bloomin busy bea-ver.

I am wanting to hang onto my newly acquired enjoyment of colour .... so felting and various odd possibilities without small needles are tickling my fancy.

@CheerBear sending lots of craft hugs your way ((((((( @CheerBear )))))))) along with lots of quiet encouragement to keep on keeping on - as I know you will, you being who you are - doesn't mean it's not hard though.

Re: Craft Corner

Very busy (creature we can't type here from memory) sounding @Appleblossom. Felting is pretty fab.

Hiya @Shaz51. Looking forward to hearing your pipeline things if you share them.

@Former-Member thank you (big huge lots) for being you ❤ Paying attention to and feeling your quiet encouragement very appreciative of it. Hope your day is going ok. Cake and tea sound great 😊

Re: Craft Corner

Goodness gracious @Appleblossom, that is a large and excellent range of things to do. Lovely that you are enjoying colour, I am noticing that in your posts - the beautiful images you include are often both inspiring and comforting. thank you for sharing them.

I keep wanting to do weaving, but then think of how much of everything different I'd need to acquire to do that, so have only dabbled in it. There are some amazing different styles of weaving that allow for imagination and colour extravaganzas. Saori is one iirc.

Lovely to see you here

I havent had the time to do any knitting today as I have been watching my favourite tv show Midsommer Murders!!!!!! yes I am a sucker for these Brit shows. Had a nana nap earlier as it is a billion degrees here and will tidy up the house then attack my knitting :D.

@Former-Member looking forward to seeing these sewing machines. I really do appreciate all your help with this 🙂 xx

Re: Craft Corner

Wonderful to hear that @Shaz51. Always interested in what others are crafting if you feel like sharing at any time (of course I realise not everyone wants to, or is able to share such things too, so not sharing is also okay) Hopefully, life will settle into quieter ebbs and flows that allow you to indulge in your crafting goodness soon.

(((( @CheerBear)))) So many wishes for you, not enough words. Found this, thought I'd share. Crocheted around elastic, just so clever.Pattern here - free crochet button-heart pattern

Re: Craft Corner

I too am a sucker for the Brit tv murder and mayhem series! Have you seen/ are you watching Shetland? not Brit, but so very good. I often crochet while watching tv, depending on how much attention one or the other requires.

To start with, I thought I'd do up a list of things to look for in a sewing machine so you can check things out and maybe become a bit familiar with what might or might not be what you'd like. I will do up some explanatory links too to make things easier to follow and stuff.

Must get onto the things on my list or I'll not get it all done. Best day wishes everyone. *waves*

Thanks for thinking of me @Former-Member.
Feeling a bit under the weather with a head cold and tired from the events of the week.
Hope you’re doing ok 🌿❤️🌸
