Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Victim rocks made me giggle also 🙂

I had a really, really bad day and called in sick to something I desperately wanted to be able to do but couldn't do today. I was uncomfortably close to self-destruct mode and needed something to take my mind off it all. I sat with my dots and rode it out, again feeling thankful for the time out they are giving me. I wanted to share it because right now this is something I'm very glad I have to do and something that's helping me heaps.

It's on a bigger canvas than the others and still has a bit to go (metallic silver - love shiny stuff!). It feels good to have an ongoing projecty kind of thing happening again.

Beautiful @CheerBear . So sorry for how you are feeling, but glad you had this wonderful prject to work on and bring you some releif.

I can relate to not being able to attend something really important to you due to MI. I missed my brothers 50th birthday celebration on Saturday night due to MI and I was totally gutted. Still hurts now. But it was the right decision nonetheless, as painful as it was.

Keep up the amazing work cheer bear.

Thank you @saturnzoon ❤ Hope your blanket felt good if you were working on it today.

@Doglover thank you also. I'm sorry you weren't able to get to your brother's birthday. It sucks when your head gets in the way of doing what you want to 🙁 Gutted is a fitting word for it, but I think it was the right decision for me today too. Hugs for you ❤

@CheerBear That really is looking beautiful. I know so well the mind struggles, and the comfort of a few colours and some dots. Some bright moments in the darkness. Sending lots of these 💕💞💕💜💕

waoh ! Very nice canvas and dotting @CheerBear . I hope you can share once you have added the silver and metallic colours to it. Fingers crossed you are having a better day today. 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Thanks @Maggie and @Gazza75 ❤

Gazza I was happy to hear you'd had a go on the weekend, though I get it can be tricky. I hope you're not too discouraged as Maggie said. I'm finding practice is helping a lot. I also picked up a cheap set of acrylic rods and some tiny dotting stylus from eBay. I find it so much easier to use the rods, especially for the bigger dots.

Maggie thanks for understanding the struggles. I like that I have to be very, very still when I'm doing this. I also love colour (that's why I collect yarn I think 😉) and really like watching the paint gently blob onto the surface and smooth out. I find it very soothing. Huge thank you for introducing this into my get-through-it list ❤
