Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Hi @CheerBear @Maggie , these aren't mine. I made about 60 or 70, but, nearly all of them are in the USA. They'd normallly take 5-10 hours for a small one and double that for a big one. I also made coasters and little ashtrays from bottle caps. Its quite relaxing once you get into the groove of it. The last, small picture most closely resembles how I used to do them. I think the 2nd one is using some kind of string rather than raffia. Dot dot dot 😉 I'm starting to think you two are talking in morse code 😉

Re: Craft Corner

Thanks @Shaz51 , they aren't all that practical. You can't stack much in the bigger ones, but, they do look nice 🙂 Glad you like them. They pretty much cost $0 to make. A big bag of raffia is only a few bucks and you can make a lot of baskets from that. I tried selling them one time, but, no one bought them even though they were pretty cheap.

@Maggie- Enjoyed your potential warning sign as well LOL 🙂

Fantastic @Gazza75

I have so many unfinished projects - bsby crochet blanket; knitted beanie snd all these unsewn bsby blankets.

At the moment I csnt be bothered anymore. The motivation has gone.

Hi @CheerBear @Shaz51 @Maggie @saturnzoon 👋

Re: Craft Corner

@BlueBay, maybe you can try and find a few minutes each day to chip away at them at some point. You might get pleasure from it and gain a bit of momentum that way. Is it something you did by yourself or with your daugher and friends? I was always fascinated with crochet and knitting. My grandmother taught me how to knit, but, i've never done anything since I was a kid. I wasn't much good at it.

I know motivation can be hard. I find it diffucult myself with work, nutrition and exercise. Feels like a constant daily grind. I certainly have good and bad days. Life.

@CheerBear, I'm glad you liked the baskets. If I ever get back up to the blue mountains I might scavenge some more needles and give it another try. Thats the only place I've found with 1/2 decent needles.
