Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

@CheerBear

it was really awkward going backwards! but it was ok too, abit of a difference compared to doing the same stich over and over for the past few months

aw thank you, i want to try and get my stitches a little tighter though but i wont start the tigher stitches on the rainbow one. Im thinking of doing one of the patterns you shared with me last time we were talking. the V sort of pattern?

im looking forward to seeing her if and when you can share, it sounds really interesting. has it been hard to make?

ive thought about giving amugurumi (i think thats how you spell it!) ago but not to sure im up to that yet

Ultra quickly as I head out the door, just wanted to let you know that I spotted it @outlander (looks so so good!) I'll reply properly a bit later 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Hey again @outlander 🙂 I think the V pattern you mentioned is chevron or ripple? Heaps of fun to make!

My succulent doll thingy has been tricky to make, mostly because there is a bit of piecing together. I have a few leaves and the arms to sew on and I'm done. It turns inside out to be either a little pot with plants or a doll with plants for hair (sounds weirder than it is!). I think you'd enjoy amigurumi. They are much more interesting than a repetitive blanket I think. Or you could start a mandala madness giant project! They're so much fun and you'd learn heaps along the way!

Loved the pic by the way. I hope Aunty loves it too 💙

Re: Craft Corner

The big blankets I have made are called "mandala madness" @outlander. They have written patterns, patterns with pics and very detailed YouTube videos for every single stitch and part. I jumped from things like pretty basic blankets and amigurumi to mandala madness because of the YouTube tutorials. Worth checking out one day maybe 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

they are pretty @CheerBear they may have to be a project to do too!
the hardest thing i find is actually the colour changes. i can never get them properly, i can do the magice knot and on small things can work in over the top of the remaining strand but when it gets larger it never stays in that spot it always comes out

Re: Craft Corner

Hi @outlander and anyone who might be passing by

I started a new little project after having some fun making a doll for someone as a Christmas gift. Wanting to share a progress pic after our chat this morning Outlander 🙂

She has pins holding her hair until I stitch her up which I will do once I've finished all of the parts (including a little hat and some long socks). Heaps of fun making this one!

Re: Craft Corner

Thank you @outlander and @BlueBay 😊 It's a lovely pattern. I have found so many beautiful creations for little people like your Ayla BlueBay while I have been looking! I almost wish my kids were littler again so I could make them all 😉

@outlander the curls are super easy and part of lots of patterns. Things like the little jellyfish amigurumi and the succulent doll use it. It is one long row of chain stitches then a row of single crochet from the second loop from the hook, back over it all. It naturally curls up (maybe what's going on with your new year project in a way).
