Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

****************

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

@Former-Member @CheerBear

You know now we lost the quadruplets but we have 2 sets of triplets I think.

Niqueeta, @Former-Member and @Former-Member are all INFJ's if I'm not mistaken

and @Mazarita @Appleblossom and you cheerbear are INFPs

Darnit I had the quadruplets worked out.. think for this upcoming episode Niqueeta might have to stay a quadruplet.. then I'll have to figure something out...

*Glares at Episode plan and is tempted to rip it up* :S

@CheerBear whistling and coffee pot = lalalala nothing to see here... go about your business ... not listening - type of thing... get it now?

Ah that's right re lisajane and lil-caterpillar @Spookytookims. Sorry, I missed LJ's post where she mentioned her type (I think it was way back in the days before Turtle Island was discovered 😉 ). They're the first twins, not Mazarita and I. I kind of get the coffee pot thing now thanks 🙂 Your episode will be great however it comes out! Let me know if you want to bounce some ideas around.

If one of only a few people on an isolated Island fell ill, I think it would be devasting.
These people have only each other for all the supports they need and desire. Losing one would not be an option they would want.
But I would like to think that even in such a small number of people, there would be both logic and empathy.
I would say it would be obvious that the person had to be quarantined and that they should have only one carer. If their illness was contagious, it could wipe the entire population out!
Deciding who that carer would be, if in the real World, I don't think would be that difficult. In my experience most people avoid the sick and do not want to look at death, particularly if it may involve their own! But this is our Island (Thank goodness it's make believe!)
It would be good if we could all discuss the best possible options. I would go as far as to say whoever had the most medical knowledge should not be the carer, they may be needed for further medical emergencies.
We would all form a chain of support, the carer will need supplies; cloth may be of limited supply, so perhaps soft bark or leaves, that can be burnt after use and as such help lessen the spread of the illness. Perhaps there may be herbs of some kind we could gather and process. We could devise a form of communication so that the ill person and the carer did not feel unduly isolated, and so the person with medical knowledge could monitor the situation and give advice.
I would be looking toward the oldest to do the caring, as I truly feel for the young, they still have the full battle of life in front of them and need to be protected.
This is kind of fun 🙂 I'll have to go back and read through the episodes (I've only looked at one and may never catch up!)

Well ok then... @Former-Member you're staying a quadruplet this upcoming episode cos I've made pics that are too funny to ditch my plot now 😛

you are more than welcome to write your own episode ... I love your writing and I just do mine for fun, as I said in the first one... offers to write other episodes are welcomed! Please do, in fact! i'm sure everyone else would love it too. 🙂

write it your own way, and we can have two completely different versions. I think that would be great. @CheerBear @Former-Member Would love it... @Phoenix_Rising might get a bit confused by it but she'd come round 😛 wouldn't you Phoenix? After maybe a brief visit into your shell? 😉

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

😮 That to me is like the perfect balance between compassion, kindness, logic and reason @Former-Member! If we pooled all of our strengths together and worked out who can do what well, and who was comfortable with doing different tasks, I'm sure we'd be able to face many challenges like sickness, together!

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@CheerBear I'm sure the ill person will be cured, the carer will remain immune and our little community will live happily ever after 🙂 {did I mention I'm so glad our Island is make believe :D}
