Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

****************

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

yeah @Appleblossom I'm a bit concerned phoenix-rising may be going through a rough patch not like her to miss curfews, as she has told us, she likes routines. So it's a bit of a worry.

I've never thought of myself as being aspy-ish.. but I guess at times my pragmatic style of approaching problem solving could certainly be viewed as such and I can see bit of me in Doc Martin in that area. But I'm not nearly structured enough I don't think. I really dislike routines too.

ISTP, that's the same as The Vorticon self reported his result as. It's full of stuff I'd never expect of you, so that's super surprising.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@CheerBear do you think I am aspy-ish in how I relate to people? (re what @Appleblossom said ? )

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Dont worry about the aspy thing.

When I first heard about MBTI I did not have time or the internet access to do my own research on it.

Now there is so much about it on the net. I think it is relevant but I am not a details person.

I just looked it up and one site calls it a virtuoso and like getting hands dirty .. well thats true .. dont a bit of mechanics and a lot more gardening ...

I hope everyone is alright.

I have had a lot to manage lately and so havent been able to look out for others as much as I sometimes do.

When on the forums, it can be hard when people are on and off but it can aslo be that good things are happe ning. After a while I accepted it as part and parcel of the forum. It can be worrying sometimes when a member is in crisis or suddenly disappears. Part of my self care is not imagining the worst, but leaving the situation open for people to come and go as they need. I cannot know what happens offline.

I love your posts. They are perky and intelligent and caring. Take care of you too.

Time for me to say good night though.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

it's ok @Appleblossom not worried per se... my INTPness needs understanding, clarification and knowledge... so now you said that , I'm just wanting to know what @CheerBear thinks cos I think she understands my INTPness best as he has read up on it, so that's why I'm asking her,. Then I can learn how I'm coming across and maybe understand your comment a little better.

That's INTP for you! We gotsta know!! 😄 Thanks for saying it, I appreciate it. I don't mind at all being aspy-ish.. just surprised me that's all. But I can kind of guess why.

Sleep well and see you soon. And thanks for dropping in to Turtle Island... super special to have you.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Former-Member if you google your MBTI type... and put brain on it.. then look at images... you should see it. Like mine I put in INTP brain

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Hi @Spookytookims, @Former-Member, I just did the MBTI test and came up INFP. Interesting to me that only the extroversion/introversion part has changed in well over 10 years.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Mazarita same here.. I was on the cusp but considered INTP... but one question either way I went E/I.. but now when I did it the other day on the humanmetrics one... I was about 12% into INTP but intervening was my trauma... so I think it kind of makes sense I might have gone into my shell around people in comparison to what I was.

You know you are the same as @CheerBear?

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@CheerBearis heaps of fun on the island... can you relate to anything she does in the episodes or have you not had a chance to read them? She's pretty much all about making everyone comfortable above basic practicalities.. which works well with me cos I'm the opposite.

oh and btw @Mazarita hello and how are you this evening? 😄
