Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

****************

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: All things personality

@Former-Member Hope things settle down a bit for you tomorrow, or at least once you get through tomorrow.

@CheerBear re soup.. I love souping in colder weather. I use slow cooker for it and it's super yum and so healthy. What type you make? You can make soup on the island if you can find plants to flavour it... maybe it can be a Thai island so we can find thai basil and wild garlic! 🙂 We have a metal bowl at least. 😛

Edit: OMG my typing's gone feral!!! I really should wait til on laptop to type!!!! Sorrryyy!

Re: All things personality

Do we?! I thought we were still using cocounts for bowls @Spookytookims. My sieve memory is letting me down here. This was a delish tomato based vege soup with kidney beans and pasta and hot bread. So good.
Oooh we can look for food on the island! Not just fish and coconuts. I like fishing heaps, but probably won't eat fish unless it doesn't taste like fish or i am really really hungry. I am kind of a someone who won't eat anything that used to be an animal in a cage or a tiny horrible place. But I guess ill happily catch fish because they've lived freely and happily out in the ocean and I might even consider eating something else on the island if I needed to seeing as there's probably no nasty farms/factories around. Wonder if there's any fruit around?

ROFLMAO.... ROFLMAO @CheerBear I have a feeling @Phoenix_Rising is going to get a good laugh at that one too. Marooned island.. food.. hungry.. and you comfy chair, elaborate meeting place, and creating a menu of won't eats. You might have to eat bugs!!! Hello!!! Lmao @ you girl!

It's becoming increasingly apparent that I wouldn't survive for long out in the wild @Spookytookims...
I actually properly loled reading your reply. Super awkward in a quiet lounge room with others watching tv haha.

Re: All things personality

i'm falling asleep but will dream sweet dreams of island getaways with beaches, long walks on the sand and the sounds of birds and insects (and my tummy rumbling).
Night Island friends. It's been a great laugh and escape 🙂

Re: All things personality

have you even tried dehusking those coconuts that were up there with you since episode one? @CheerBear oh no... that's right, you've been too busy with other stuff! 😛 Now we are all coming back to lunch and did you even find a sharp rock nearby for us to use to get those husks off that lil-caterpillar explained we needed? oh no.. that's right, you have gone off looking for that fibre to make your super salubrious hanging chair!! 😛

I'm thinking we might need that fibre you are collecting for a leash! And rules might be becoming a little more necessary here. even if it's just to keep you tethered to reality! LOL!! No wonder poor @Phoenix_Rising is wandering around helplessly pleading for structure! I'm beginning to feel the same way! 😂

Goodnight by the way... sleep well, tomorrow you need to go out and collect bugs.... or crabs... whichever you prefer... oh hang on... probably we'll be having lobster mornay , right? (Yum!) Could we have some crunchy garlic bread with that? Fresh baked of course!

*runs out with facetious grin on face*

😛

Re: All things personality

Haha @Spookytookims - i laughed so much at this. It won't be lobster mornay, I'm not quite hungry enough to eat once-was-an-animal just yet. But garlic bread sounds good.

I've got a terrible case of the sads today. I went to bed knowing it was lingering, woke trying to shake it off but it's a bit hard to today. So if anyone is looking for me I'll be in that awesome chair swing nest staying there, partially because i don't know how to get down seeing as i don't really know how i got up here to start with, and in part because I need to just sit here for a bit longer.

About to walk into the supermarket. Legit hoping the right cheese is there.

💛

Re: All things personality

@CheerBear Hope all is good at the supermarket. Just get back unscathed! Have a look on Phoenix's forum land addiction thtread. Left you some ideas of how you might have got into the chair.

Gotta run be back later my morning time.

Good morning @Former-Member hope things get a bit sorted for you today and you get some answers. Lucky over on the Vorticons Island we found that witchdoctor. Or maybe that's @TheVorticon dressed up now that I think about it. Perhaps borrowing his helicopter and opting for a real doctor might be the better choice.

😛
