Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Sounds like a plan @Spookytookims

Re: All things personality

Haha @Spookytookims! Thats bananas! Definitely totally different to how mine would look! I've just downloaded a mind mapping app to see whether i could do it and am way too embarrassed to share. Hilarious.

By the way, while you guys are busy collecting water and making useful things like hats and baskets, I'm off imagining the most elaborate and magical benches and swinging chairs for our gather space. It looks amazing in my imagination. Completely impractical, especially considering we kind of need some tools, but very comfortable and perfect for deep and meaningful chats 😉

Re: All things personality

yes Im sure your benches, @CheerBear, will be better than the basic ones I had in mind with that wood @Former-Member and myself dragged up to dry! I can just imagine the elaborately carved high back chairs you are going to come out with!

I thought you'd get a laugh out of the Egyptology difference. soon as I saw your "that's the first time I've ever used that word" comment I just burst out laughing at the difference!

I use an app called "simple minds" it's so great for preplanning essays, I got it for that originally but use it for all sorts of things now.. and thought that was the perfect medium to show you what I wanted you to see. Simple minds... lol maybe not so simple in my case! Hey found this too.... I know you aren't INFJ (none of us on the island are) but hey I think this kind of says a lot... especially in view of that Egyptology mindmap example:

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! roflmao.. seriously!! tooooooo funny @CheerBear love it!

Still mulling over that relationships thingo you asked me by the way. So many what ifs and variables not really sure where to start on it. I think for me INFP might be a best partner scenario. at least on the surface.. because me being female is probably a bit more on the feeling empathy side than a male INTP.. especially in view of my trauma and what I have had to learn because of it. Female INTPs are rarer than male ones. It's 2% women and 5% men apparently. Not sure % of male INFPs.

An INFP male would probably be good cos he'd have a bit more testosterone to offset all the feeling stuff, for me, but still be pretty feely because of his INFPness.

But that's on first thinking about it.. I could draw and horribly terribly involved mindmap on all that and get lost for days on possibilities and permutations!

What's your thoughts on it?

Re: All things personality

I think INFP's as partners and in general are kind of great 😉 nah, I think it is complicated and this is where all kinds of factors aside from personality come into play. I'm not sure at all about it really but I know the opposite typing to me was the major storm and we know how that worked out. Too similar and I think we'd get lost in circles, kind of like all of us at the moment waiting for an E type to make rules on TI haha, but too different and it's got massive potential for misunderstandings. At the same time, different gives another perspective and kind of balances things...

It's all a bit hmmmm really @Spookytookims
