Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

****************

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: All things personality

@Spookytookims @CheerBear It sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun with this adventure. @Spookytookims, you asked for feedback re. my part in this adventure. I have been reflecting on this and one thing does jump out at me. I'm not actually into MAKING rules, it's more that I appreciate OTHERS making rules, and once they've made the rules, I'll go into meltdown if the rules are changed or not adhered to. So...for example, my friend who bailed out of my world in November made the rule that I couldn't call her, but she would call me once a fortnight. Sometimes I would wait and wait and WAIT all weekend, only for her to message on Sunday night to say she was too busy to call. This invariably caused chaos. My psychologist has made the rules that I can email once a week and send two voice messages which can be a max of 3 minutes each. I have learnt the social rule that when people say "you can call me anytime," they don't actually mean it and they will get angry if I call them at 2am. Is this helping? You see? I don't MAKE the rules, I just process the world in terms of rules and I function best in situations where there are rules - this is why I'm good at inferential statistics and writing in APA style. Conversely, I don't do well in the "real" world where I am regarded by most people as being too black and white, and too rigid.

Rules, structure and routine make me feel calm because I know what is going to happen when. I don't cope with unexpected events (good or bad) well at all. So...is this helping you in creating my character???

I'm not planning to be back on the forum today, but I look forward to the next episode. As I said the other day, I don't take this MBPI stuff too seriously so don't feel like you are going to offend me or anything.

Re: All things personality

@Spookytookims Hee hee, you obviously posted while I was working on my post. Nah, I will let you guys create some structure for our days on the island. My only rule is that once we make the rules, we stick to them.

Re: All things personality

Ah I'm supposed to be getting ready but caught something you jusy said @Phoenix_Rising. None of our types are typically into making rules. By the look of it we would need an E for that so really at this point we'd probably all be walking around in circles waiting for an E to take charge 😂

Definitely out now. Catch y'all later. Our Island rocks 💛
