Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: All things personality

Uh-oh - Spooky's ant stance is back.

I think I'll start with a group gather and what might be happening @Spookytookims. That should be easy to fit in anywhere. I have to do some research first though so this will take time. Plus I get super easily distracted so I'll surprise myself if I can follow it through. Actually, even better - I'm going to pinterest the .. out of this. Will be back, if I don't lose myself in the wonderful world of MBTI pins.

Re: All things personality

@Spookytookims So I have just started a secret TI board (it's secret so there's no way anyone can find it and so it doesn't breach forum guidelines) and a google doc listing out traits and responses we all may have to a group gather. I've gotten as far as searching "INTP feelings" - there's this huge scary world of 'wow I can't understand this at all' stuff there. It's completely fascinating. I have absolutely no idea what it would be like to be like that. I think I have a pretty big capacity for imagining/empathising but this is bananas! And yes, it's an amazing mystical kingdom and I may not be back to the real world for a while. As an INFP it's either meh or OMG this is the MOST AH-MAZING thing that's ever happened to the ENTIRE world. This is the latter.

Re: All things personality

lol @CheerBear bananas!!! lolol I love that saing one of my favourite alternate Egyptologists uses that all the time and I just love it!! So if I'm bananas I'm very very very happy to be bananas.

Hey just ask me.. we analyse EVERYTHING.. so you better believe I've got myself figured out fairly well! So if you have a scenario or something you are trying to give me feelings in... just let me know and I'll give you some insight and you can use it any way you choose to. 😛

Re: All things personality

oh I btw I would LOVE to see some of the things you are reading, @CheerBear, that are "wow I can't understand this at all' stuff there. It's completely fascinating. I have absolutely no idea what it would be like to be like that." that would give me so much insight into myself with others and also into you.

So if you feel like posting some in I would so much appreciate it.

Re: All things personality

Hahaha @Spookytookims - bananas to me is fairy floss language, to you it relates to an Egyptologist (I've never used that word!). I wish we were sitting together over a drink doing this. I'd love to be able to show you some of this and ask what the heck they mean by it. There's heaps of funny stuff on here. I think so anyway.

There's this MBTI 'why you're a bad person thing'. For INFP - It's 3am, pidgeons do not have feelings. Stop asking and go to sleep. For INTP - You spoiled Star Wars for everyone. You haven't even seen the movie yet, you're just like a freakishly good guesser.

I can relate to this, can you?

Re: All things personality

@CheerBear is that supposed to be a conversation or two different totally separate thoughts?

Re: All things personality

Sorry, I knew that made no sense when I wrote it. It was a big list of silly things. It had why each MBTI type might be a bad person. Apparently you're freakishly good at picking the end of movies @Spookytookims

Re: All things personality

hahahah a yes.... apparently I am.. people hate it when I let something I think is obviously out of the bag, because I assume they have 'seen' it too! It's also why I love Mulholland Drive because that actually took me 3 watches to get it all worked out and I very very very very rarely (read pretty much never) watch a movie twice.

and.. do you know what you just did @CheerBear? I was sitting here, trying to work out what pigeons not having feeliings had to do with spoiling star wars for everyone!!! LOL No wonder I couldn't get the connection no matter how many files my mind was trying to process itself through looking for a connection!
