Hi @Kimba27, I’m really sorry you’re feeling so lonely and defeated. It sounds like you’ve been dealing with a lot for quite some time, and it makes sense that getting out and meeting people can feel really difficult when you’re experiencing panic and depression. It’s lovely to hear you say that you have so much to offer, I hope you can hold onto that, even on the days when things feel really hard.
It’s completely understandable to want deeper, real-life connections, and you don’t have to figure it all out at once. Starting with small, manageable steps might feel a little less overwhelming, and hopefully the Forums can be one place where you can begin building some connection at your own pace.
And don’t worry about still learning how to use the Forums! 😊
When someone replies to your post, you can click on the notification to see their message, then click Reply. There are lots of community and social groups around Melbourne, and you may be able to find something that feels comfortable to start with through local community centres, libraries or groups based around interests you enjoy @Kimba27
You could also have a look at Ask Izzy, which is a free directory where you can search for local services and community groups in your area: https://askizzy.org.au/ 💛

@Kimba27 having depression and anxiety can have huge impacts and it can feel like we lose ourselves along the way. I struggle with going out but have to as I don't have a choice, I do find it easier if I have someone with me though rather than going alone.
Do you have any supports in place for yourself, are you on any medication to help with the anxiety? You don't have to answer if you're not comfortable of course but it can help with suggestions and knowing what you've tried, where things are at for you etc.
You're doing just fine navigating and learning how to reply here so don't stress. A helpful tip if you add the @ symbol and type the person's name it should come up then it tags them so they will get notified about your reply ☺️.
How are you feeling today, I hope the day treats you kindly. We're here for you ❤️.

Hi @Kimba27 around Melbourne there's a few possibilities. A lot of libraries host events but they're often just one-off. Most Council areas have Neighbourhood Houses that offer short courses and more importantly a weekly gettogether. And for retirees there's U3A but you usually need to enrol in advance for the topics you're interested in. Some areas have things like garden clubs and craft groups - your Council usually has a list of these.
I know about these things but rarely go as I have no transport and I have social anxiety.
Do you have any pets? Unfortunately I lost my cat a few months ago. A lot of people with dogs meet up with others at the local dog park and their dogs play together.
How's your day so far? After lunch I'll try to get organised for my fortnightly home help tomorrow. The sunshine is quite nice here at the moment.
