Welcome and getting started

Hi. I was diagnosed as Paranoid Schizophrenia back in 1999 at age 29!

Hi folks,

Looking for a new start on the mental health forums as totally different now since I started. Have a good shrink and he's always challenged me and I respect him. 15 minutes every 6 weeks but he got me onto a medication to get off that nicotine after a 25 year journey of that addiction. Also got me onto keto which was so random but moved from treading water to living again.

Like I say. I've always been a member of the community online through various sites so just touching base. I'm doing things that have escaped me for years and it's a crazy process as usual but the gains are good.

There's something there for schizophrenia with that keto but the deal breaker was doing 6 months of it. It's hard but since then I've had my cheat days and can maintain it somewhat. It's hard like life but mental gains are crazy for me.....yes that word again!

Much peace and chocolate cake! So out of my realms these days but hello!

Congrats on kicking a bad habit. I smoked for 10 years. Its hard to quit.

@Rogues I sense your humour along with the life struggles.

I have known lots of people with different diagnoses. Also lots of people who have tried keto. Myself I have taken the low carb, low sugar aspect, and yes I love cooking with butter. Fashions in food and diagnosis seem to come and go... a bit like hemlines and hair cuts....

Take care

Hi @Rogues

I didn't think we were meant to talk about specific medications

But, i flagged your post for moderation an hour or so ago, and no edits. So I assume smoking cessation aids are okay

...gave me a psychotic relapse

obv edited now

Hey @DogMan79 ,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. You are absolutely correct that medication names are not to be mentioned in posts. We have now made an edit to ensure it aligns with our community guidelines.

We really appreciate you taking the time to flag this with us. One of the things we value most about this community is members like you who help us maintain a safe, supportive, and welcoming space for everyone. Your contribution is genuinely appreciated, and thank you for helping us look out for our community.

On another note, @Rogue kicking the habit of smoking after so long is HARD work!

Apologies. Been in and out of sites for a while and getting rid of my social accounts and trying to declutter a bit online.

Should have read the terms and conditions so my bad. I don't get online much these days but like to keep a realm open for talk about my conditions. Paranoid Sz. Major depression. You never know when you'll need help and over the years I always see my shrink every 6 weeks if able...It's always worthwhile even though now after 33 years with a two year gap overseas.....my psydoc is now no longer bulk billing me! ( He's looked after me so it's minimum cost but got to have a hundred bucks in my account to do the business )

I am not complaining but it's troubling times for most for sure these days but appreciate the feedback.
