New to the community

Hi am new to the community. I have cptsd and am neurodivergent. Sadly have never had the support I needed. Looking to make some connections, learn more and share what I’ve learnt. maybe make a friend or two.

i also live with complex chronic pain.

looking forward to being here

@moonspell

Good morning and welcome to SANE.

You will find a very understanding and caring community here

While we all have our own personal struggles we also take on the wonderful opportunity of supporting our peers here

I have MDD. High anxiety and suffer from various manic episodes

I have been self medicating for many years (,just a little about myself)

I am glad you have found us here and look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi @moonspell, welcome to the forums 😊

Thank you for introducing yourself and sharing a little about your journey. It sounds like you’ve been carrying a lot, and I’m glad you’ve found your way here

I hope you’re able to find the connection and support you’re looking for and that you enjoy being part of the community 💛

Re: New to the community

Thank you for the warm welcome. Sadly I am completely alone and have carried way too much. Estranged from family and with some I want it to stay that way. Now with the added chronic pain issues it’s really hard. I would like to return to work in some capacity but not sure what. I am working with employability to help with that. I spent 20 years as a support worker and now I’m in need of one and the ndis.

I was part of this community a long time ago so thought it was time to return now I have safety.

Re: New to the community

I’m really sorry to hear you’ve been carrying so much @moonspell. I can imagine it must feel really difficult navigating things without much support around you, especially while also managing chronic pain.

I hope you’re able to find the right supports around you, and it’s great to hear you’re working with employability to explore what returning to work might look like in a way that feels manageable for you.

Just a quick tip as well, when you’re tagging members, if you put an @ before their username (for example @Nala2022), they’ll receive a notification that you’ve mentioned them 😊

Re: New to the community

@nala2022 thank you I’d forgotten about that lol. Fingers crossed. I’ve tried so hard and for so long to find the support I’ve needed. Sadly the public mental health services haven’t worked for me and having no support at home or with friends makes it harder.

Re: New to the community

No worries at all @moonspell 😊

I can see how that would be really disheartening, especially when you've been trying so hard for so long to find the right support

I'm not sure if you've come across it before, but you could also have a look at Ask Izzy: https://askizzy.org.au/. It's a free directory that lets you search for different types of support services in your local area, based on what you're looking for. Sometimes it can help uncover services you might not have known about.

You deserve to have people in your corner 💛

Re: New to the community

It sounds like you've worked incredibly hard to find the right support, and I can understand how exhausting and disheartening it must be to feel like you've fallen through the cracks @moonspell

I hope this community can be one place where you feel heard, understood, and a little less alone. Please keep reaching out whenever you feel like it, we're really glad you're here 💛
