Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

Re: Riding a wave

@CheerBear I just read your almost-broken-bones adventure. Is it bad that I giggled A LOT? I know you are feeling a bit sore from the adventure, but the way you described it made a super funny picture in my brain. I am super glad there were no broken bones - imagine having to write your posts with your toes!

There is zero chance of the DBT adventure continuing on Monday. I feel so sad about it. I was just getting on a roll. I hope to at least open the manual tomorrow.

Re: Riding a wave

Super big thank you for the new stories @CheerBear and @Former-Member. Bookish it made me feel warm and fuzzy to think that you were looking for a story for me.

Re: Riding a wave

Nah I think it's totally ok to laugh with a not-friend stuck in a sofa @Phoenix_Rising 😆

The DBT adventure is on a pause too and that is sad but it isn't forever.

Badly wishing for a wand also 🙁

Night (again). See you tomorrow (even if we don't see you)

@Phoenix_Rising,
Thanks for the tips.
I’m lost, there’s so much riddle talk,
How can that be inclusive.
I’m done.

Re: Riding a wave

I'm sorry you're feeling lost @Catcakes. I can see how talking in some places around here might be seem confusing and difficult to join in with. I think that maybe over time connections are developed between people here and with that can come ways of talking about stories and events with each other (like developing a shared language) that are safe or understood. That's probably more likely to happen in threads that are quite long also, as people have been walking alongside each other for a little while. In saying that, I can see how it could feel hard to join in with as a new person here. I remember feeling it was a bit tricky to start with here also and I think most of us probably experienced this to an extent.

Is there anything that might help you settle in here that we can give you a hand with?

Re: Riding a wave

@CheerBear,
Thanks for the explanation. I’m just feeling on the outer,
I don’t understand why some people have been “kicked off”
And I can’t tell who are professionals and who are not and why my profile calls me a senior contributor, and was is a pause button, and how I answered my own question, and was I being mocked.
Maybe Im just not suitable for forums....

Re: Riding a wave

I understand how you might feel like that @Catcakes and I am sorry that you are feeling it. I am not sure where anyone has been kicked off so I can't help with that one sorry.

The professionals are Moderators (you see them sometimes but they're always keeping an eye on the forum) and Community Managers. NikNik and Lauz are Community Managers and both are away at the moment. Everyone else are peers.

The senior contributor you see under your name means that you have posted a certain amount of posts (I think it is 30). There is New Contributor for a few posts and Casual Contributor for more than a few posts but less than 30. Some of us also have Community Guide, which is a senior contributor in a volunteer guide kind of role (doing things like supporting new people to find their way around etc).

The "pause" thing is maybe better for Phoenix_rising to talk about if she wants but what it essentially means is that Phoenix_Riaing is waiting to work through some things for now.

I am sorry if you feel like you've been mocked. Sometimes things can be said and received in ways that can get mixed up. It doesn't make it easier for you though.

I hope that's some help to you catcakes. I think there is definitely a place for everyone here on the forum. The social threads can be great places to get to know people. It can also be helpful to start a thread and share some of what's been happening for you if you'd like too. Or you're more than welcome to jump in wherever and see what happens.

I'm heading to bed now. Please feel free to tag me if you'd like to chat some more. I should be back online tomorrow (I usually am).

Re: Riding a wave

Hi @Catcakes ......

I am out tonight with family, but there is a break in our evening and I have picked up your post ......

The professionals here are called Moderators, and that appears next to their user names.

I am a Community Guide, and that is a volunteer position ..... just someone who has been here for a while who helps out a bit around the place.

Community Elders are "retired" Community Guides.

The "pause button" being mentioned is where a community member is eating for one of the senior administrators to return from a holiday break because there is something she wants to talk out, and is steufgling with the time frame.

You have been here long enough on the forums and active enough to be known as a Senior Contributor.

People are only "kicked off" if they refuse to respect the community guidelines ......

I hope that helps.

Re: Riding a wave

Sleeping on a pause button is so so SO hard. 😔😔😔

Re: Riding a wave

Edit for my post above @Catcakes .....

“community member is eating for” is supposed to be “community member is waiting for”

”steufgling” is supposed to be “struggling”

I was typing on my phone, and my Autocorrect tends to get overactive when I press a wrong letter by accident .....

😊

I haven’t read back through all the posts on this thread yet @Catcakes, so I am assuming that someone was trying to be a bit playful with you rather than mocking you, but it didn’t come across so well .... we are pleased to meet new members and I hope these explanations are helping you to feel more comfortable about contributing.

Hi @Phoenix_Rising .... still here with you in thought when I can be here posting .... Hearing that it is still so hard to be trying to wait for NikNik, and not understanding where the boundaries lie concerning the interactions that went awry last week, and how to go about re-establishing them.

I am still on a giant pause button with all our family issues, and it’s very hard .....

Listening, and feeling for you.
