'How can we support you?' How would you answer this?
So I'm wondering, if you were asked by a worker how they could support you, what might you say?
Thanks

Super want to join in this conversation but alas I'm not quite in the right headspace. Sorry to put a downer on it but wanted to say a few things
I struggled with that question so much because I just didn't know @Former-Member. Try not to put pressure on yourself but I could identify with what you were saying about you wanting it to count and help.
Im still in hospital and had a huge meltdown this morning. Part of my issue has been that they think they know me but they don't really seem to get it. It's a little different for me as I also have somewhat of a BPD reputation for over reacting, which is probably justified but not helpful. My meltdown came over communication mix ups.
Eventually I wrote it all down (thank you @Faith-and-Hope for lots of encouragement in the past to write it all down). I handed it to a staff member and it felt like a penny dropped and for the first time I was listened to. Yesterday I did the same thing. I think Ive been saying the same things over and over in the past without putting any emotion into it. Yesterday once I detailed what happened it shocked me and helped the psychologist work out what we needed to do once I got home. Today it helped heaps to feel validated and it felt like they are starting to get me. Some solutions to my problems were acted on immediately.
Your situation might be different but it has helped to record/write what happens for me at those times. Today I think they were a little shocked as what shows on the outside is very different to what's on the inside until it implodes. I then received the help I needed for a couple of thinks from different people. I would not have been able to articulate that without having just let it all go in writing. The thing that I realised is that many of us get better over time writing it here in the forum. Today I took the approach to write it down like a post. It helped heaps and felt kind of weird not to hit post.
I don't know if this is just my ramblings. As I said earlier don't put too much pressureon what you need because it's really hard to know. I'm much better at knowing now but still seem to struggle at times to articulate it. Best wishes for your meeting 💜🤗

WOW @Former-Member that is actually a real breakthrough for you - I am so super pleased for you. It all makes complete sense - definitely not ramblings. I did not know you were in hospital - I haven't been around for a few days either so wasn't aware. I haven't read a lot of back posts and have stuck to only a few threads to keep myself 'safe'.
Sending you loads of best wishes and a few of these also ![]()

Hope your case meeting went reasonably ok. @Former-Member
I have to say I liked that CarersVic had worked out a few of the basics and then the little extra treats that might help make caring manageable.
More counselling available without a sense of disgrace for failing cos I need it.
From what I get reading threads ... more real counselling and support .. procedures and policies ... revised .. not lip service ...
YES @Former-Member I am so glad you became clearer and could communicate it ... and were heard today.
Good Luck everyone

@Former-Member So glad you have found writing things down to be a help. I've always found it super helpful but then I'm a word person... so I am glad you have found clarity in externalising your problems too. It's so great that seeing the words had such an impact, when you had been so desperately trying to convey them before without the same result. I hope this is a wake up call to those around you there and their understanding of your situation can grow on from here.
I'm sorry you are still in hospital, but perhaps this breakthrough makes the extra time a twist of fate in your favour. Let's hope so, anyway.
