Re: My story

Hey @Mr_Be ,

Strategies for existence? I tend to do things that keep me going. If it's not energising me or if I don't like it, then I seriously consider if it's for me or not.

I like to schedule a lot of things into my days, so I get a lot done.

If I don't, I tend to feel lost.

For you, if means picking up that odd sock and that's all you can do, well done! If you're up to cleaning the whole house, well done also 🙂

What'd you get up to today?

Re: My story

Yeah I get that completely @tyme

Momentum is everything. That's why I just start small and try to build success spirals. Getting on here each morning has been a good way to do that actually.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on how to keep yourself moving. What kinds of things get you energised? Been struggling with that myself a little bit lately. Definitely know I need to find some new hobbies or try out some old forgotten ones.

Yesterday was a bit of a low energy day for me. Hung out with my kids and tried to keep us all moving. Took them out for a bit and just enjoyed the time I could with them.

How was your day? And what have you got booked for yourself for today?

Re: My story

I like having strict routine. I like lists to help me get things done. This is what energises me. It's not so much about what task it is, but the fact that I can cross it off the list, then throw the list our at the end of each day.

e.g. A day's list can include things like even getting up, washing my hair, walking the dog, cleaning part of the house, taking by nibblings out etc.

@Mr_Be

I also enjoy reading, studying, travelling, going to the beach or spending time in the pool.

What about you?

@tyme
When and how do you write your lists? Like in the morning/night or on the go?

What do you study? I've been doing a bit of philosophy and religion kick lately.

I read, walk to the beach (live right next to one), go on the occasional multi-day hike. Nothing too impressive.

Re: My story

If I'm feeling low and procrastinating, then my lists can include anything like:

- get out of bed

- get out of Pjs

- brush teeth

If I'm feeling energetic, then I write things like:

- complete an assignment

- finish weeding

- go for a long walk

- go to the city

- finish writing reports

... and other life admin...

I write the lists in the morning. If my head feels really full and I can't focus, then I write the lists on sticky notes. Then throughout the day, I cross things off.

I make sure it's all achievable stuff though, or i end up upset that I don't get anything done.

Currently, I study different therapies, treatments etc. @Mr_Be

As for the beach! That's awesome that you live right next to one. I used to, but I've moved. So if I want to go to the beach, it takes at least 40mins to drive there. I've got a heated pool at home though.

Re: My story

That's a good way of doing it @tyme.

I tend to have an ongoing list that can get out of control when my mind is racing. Find myself readjusting all the time. My morning routine has a 'next smallest action' component that's kind of like a morning list, except it's just one thing. One thing that I can bare to get myself to do, that will also give me a small sense of achievement.

I'm only two weeks into my own great reset though so still kind of fragile. Need to remind myself not to get carried away go all glass cannon on the world.

What kind of therapies are we talking here? I've done some dabbling in treatments like NLP and Jungian shadow work.

I'm leaning more toward spirituality and philosophy at the moment. I'm reading Plato's Republic for fruitful thought in the mornings and the Christian Bible to wind me down. Not religious or anything, but I'm finding 'God' is good to believe in when I struggle to believe in myself. And with my dabblings into other thought systems like Buddhism and Hermetic thought for example, I'm kind of just building my own little understanding and relationship with 'Divinity'.

Also worth noting, I'm not an atheist, but I am Agnostic. Not interested in arguing belief systems, but definitely open to anyone's views and constructive dialogue.
