Re: Saturday Soiree -- 9th May 2026

Yes I play (not very well) the guitar and charrango. @creative_writer I mostly taught myself. Had a few guitar lessons. I have a beautiful classical Spanish guitar. Used to have an electric one as well but sold that as wasn’t playing it. I have two charrangos slightly different sizes. One is tiny which suits me perfectly being a small person. i need to practice more often and get back into it.

I speak Spanish and have been to Spanish America about 12 times. Want to go back again. I did that because of my PhD and academic job. Had a Mexican family stay in my house for nearly six months about 15 years ago. We only spoke Spanish in the house because the youngest boy did not speak English then. It was really good for my Spanish. My cat is bilingual ha ha.i have several friends who speak Spanish. I am taking lessons online of advanced Spanish. I hope to offer beginners classes for some extra cash.

Thats my life in a nutshell. Apart from my love of sports and novel reading. I like to garden but my back doesn’t like it much anymore. I am horribly unfit.

i’m having eye surgery early next month (left eye) and early in July (right eye). cataract surgery.

excuse the long winded post. But I am hypomanic.

Really hope your mood lifts

Yesss I should do more reading re astrology circles @SmilingGecko, oh dear that’s not a good sign that it’s usually not a good sign hehe.
I forgot to look at the moon tonight 🙈

I hope you had a good rest of your day 🙏

@GezzaP - OMG, that's so cool! I'm just reading over and I love that you speak Spanish! I was hoping to learn this year. I was going to sign up for in-person classes, but I missed the cut-off... So, I guess it's the scary DuoLingo owl for me now, haha! XD

@Chasingsunsets @SmilingGecko - Astrology circles? Are these kinda like birthcharts?

Hi there @WretchedKid, I’m actually not sure! I’ll have to do some reading but I know @SmilingGecko would know 🙏☀️🌕

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 9th May 2026

@WretchedKid practice is key, but it’s doable if you’re really into it. It can be super rewarding once you progress and it becomes second nature.

@GezzaP it’s still impressive to learn an instrument by yourself. You sound really fluent in Spanish, it’s always amazing to have another language under your belt.

Fitness is one of those things, it takes a while to built up strength, but doable if you go slowly.

Hypomania often means longer posts, lots of thoughts come up when mind is racing. I hope you slept okay last night

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 9th May 2026

Hey @WretchedKid blood moons arent astrology charts theyre just a phenomenon in the sky with ample historical corroborating events that point to the notion theyre usually a bad omen. My friend was an astrology graduate she studied under a respected astrologer here in Melbourne but did not go onto astrology research like an elite academic few. I have seen some incredible astrology research and it really bends the mind. I have a few Melbourne based astrologers that I like to follow for astrology research. You really have to have a good brain for astrology. My friend has since died but it was she that got me interested in it. She used to cast all kinds of charts theyres tonnes of different types of charts not just natal charts

@SmilingGecko @Chasingsunsets -

Ah, yes. I was aware of the blood moon thing (as I’m a fan of those weird bad omen things)!

But I thought the astro charts were interesting simply because I had been curious about birth charts lately and unsure if similar. I’m not so heavily into these things, but it is intriguing to look at from time to time.

@creative_writer - I think I will! I love building skills, although I won’t lie my impulses want me to get a fourth instrument now, lmao…

HOPE EVERYONE’S SATURDAY WAS GOOD!

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 9th May 2026

@WretchedKid I used to be into playing piano and guitar but I got bored and moved on lol 😂. I love to build skills, but keeping up with something can feel like hard work.

Which other instruments do you play apart from the keyboard?

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 9th May 2026

@creative_writer I have a drumkit and a guitar, but I want other ones lmao 🤣 At this point, I’m a collector more than a player. You’re right that it’s hard work, though.

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 9th May 2026

@WretchedKid I found once I lost interest, it became harder to practice. I’m just not as interested in playing instruments as I used to be.

Musical instruments do make good decorations 🤣
