It's normal to feel that inertia. When you're burnt out, your bed or your room can feel like the only "safe" place, and the idea of crossing the threshold of the front door feels like a massive physical task 💚
The fact that you're feeling some relief and even considering going part-time is huge. That's you actively choosing to protect your future self.
Since you're home 5 days a week, the inertia can get really heavy. If you want to try "getting out" without it feeling like a massive chore, I do have a few suggestions on low-energy ways to break that inertia.
- Sometimes, the pressure of going somewhere is the problem. Can you just sit on your front step or in the backyard for 10 minutes? You're "out," but you haven't had to navigate the world.
- Is there one place that feels low-sensory and safe? Finding a quiet and safe place, whether that's in a park or at the beach, where you can just chill, and maybe listen to music or even make some art, can be helpful.
- Another thing that might be helpful is telling yourself that you'll go for a walk or to a cafe for just 5 minutes. If you want to come home after that, you've still won!
Did your psych have any specific low-stakes ideas for getting out of the house that felt doable, or does everything still feel like a lot right now? 💚
