Wow ... you have been a busy little caterpillar over here @Former-Member .... beautiful work .... and I can see it is helping you with your study too, in all the right ways.
Sunflowers mean a lot to me, They are a special connection to my mother, who I lost 16 years ago this year. I have a special memory I want to share with you ....
My mother was very ill before she passed away, but we didn't know or understand exactly what it was .... it was a rare illness, but it was autoimmune, so it meant she kept coming down with what should have been minor illnesses, and eventually it landed her in hospital for her last few months.
Because we were living overseas, my kids were on a different holiday schedule with school, and it meant that we could come back here and spend what we didn't know would be the last couple of months of her life with her. You see ? There are rainbows along with the rain .... if we were living here, there is no way that would have been possible.
She was in a country hospital, and we spent afternoons out in the garden ..... and in the vacant block behind the hospital were growing all these sunflowers .... One day while we were out there, my mother asked the kids to pick some sunflowers and bring them to her. She had taught me to make daisy chains when I was a little girl, and seeing these sunflowers, like giant daisies, I began to make them into a big daisy chain that encircled us all. And we put some into the vase in her room.
After she passed away .... for the next month or so, I kept coming across sunflowrrs everywhere .... there was a single one growing outside the funeral home on the verge. We flew back overseas at the end of the week, and at an airport where we changed flights was a tiny terracotta pot of tiny sunflowers ..... which I bought and it's in my kitchen now. A relative visiting me in Greece when we landed bought me .... you guessed it .... sunflowers .... ❣
There is rain, and there are rainbows ...remember to include rainbows in your garden @Former-Member....

The Community Guide role is a volunteer role. They are long term members whose role is to assist in maintaining a supportive and productive community. We recruit for this annually. It's both self nominated and we also approach people.
The next intake will be around May 🙂
