Hi @Lostbookworm. That sounds really hard.
Is there anything specific we can do to help support you? Anything you'd like to talk about in particular?
I'm pretty new here myself. Everyone's great. You'll feel much less alone in no time.

Hi @Lostbookworm I just wanted to acknowledge what a tough thing it is to stay sober and to remember to be so kind to yourself which can be such a hard task, especially those constant thoughts which can go on and on in our head. So glad that you are here on the forums and you are working so hard at your sobriety and you have got this far 💜 it can feel like climbing Everest sometimes but you ae doing it, one step one minute, one day at a time and that is all anyone can ask of themselves.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for being here, and being so patient. I just have so many mental tabs open, and feel like I've convinced people I'm a nice person when really I'm not, and they all believe the lie. I'm just so tired of trying to be perfect all the time, because if I'm not perfect people will know I'm an awful person, and they won't like me anymore. And I don't know what to do. I've tried to make an appointment with my psychologist, but can't get through, so I'm looking at other mental health support services. I'm trying, I really am. I'm just tired.

It’s true that I don’t know you, but even now when you’re being more honest with strangers than you would with people in your life, you don’t strike me as an “awful person”.
We can believe we’re awful for all manner of reasons. Maybe we’re overly critical, are carrying the unkind words of others, or have made mistakes we don’t feel prepared to forgive ourselves for yet. And those things don’t define who you are. Today, and what you do with today, and tomorrow, and so on, defines who you are.
Whatever your reason to think this way may be, please remember no one is perfect. Truly no one. Media may make it seem otherwise, but media has to sell to people, so of course it will be curated to excess. It’s an industry. But we are people. And curating ourselves under the same pressure is no way to live. We aren’t here to sell ourselves. We’re here to fumble around, and get some things wrong, and learn in the process, and eventually forgive ourselves.
