#burnthementalhealthact

Hi I just lost what I was typing and I can't type it again right now. This is my first post. I have suffered some very traumatic things since June 2025while under the mental health act at the hands of the agencies put in charge by the mental health court to protect the vulnerable in our society the police the ambulance mental health and the hospital when I appealed to the mental health tribunal to have the order revoked a.

month ago I by proving what was happening and it's not hard to prove what they were doing to me because they weren't hiding it it was all happening out in the open in front of so many people so many not one person did anything to help me not one nurse not one mental health health worker not one ambulance driver the last thing I said to the tribunal is where did all the kind people go! I was successful and the order was revoked but it's far from over! I am 53years and I have always lived alone and I have a cat called Stumplstiltskin Anyway I need to try to rest I am scared of the night and suffer nightmares of the police kicking my doors in but they don't happen every night anymore but I don't when it will happen it's random is what I wrote ok it's not to much detail or triggering

Hi @Youmatter, welcome to the forums 🙂

I’m really glad you reached out and shared this here, especially when it sounds like things have been so overwhelming and difficult for you over a long period of time.

What you’ve been through sounds incredibly distressing, and it makes sense that it’s still impacting you now, especially the fear at night and the nightmares. That kind of ongoing fear can be really exhausting to carry on your own.

It also sounds like you were left feeling very alone in those experiences, particularly when you were hoping for support and understanding. That can be really hard to process.

I’m really glad you have your cat with you, pets can be such a comfort, especially during those harder moments.

If you feel up to it, you’re welcome to share a bit more about what support might feel helpful for you right now. Whether that’s just having a space to be heard, or hearing from others with similar experiences, this is a space where people will listen.

Take things gently, especially as you’re trying to rest. We’re here with you

Hey @Youmatter

Thank you for trusting us all here with your story. I am so sorry that you had to go through such a traumatic year. It sounds like you have been through an absolute battle, and it is completely understandable that you're feeling exhausted and shaken 💚

I did want to say a big congratulations on having your order revoked. That is a massive achievement and a testament to your persistence. It makes sense that even though the "legal" part is over, the emotional part feels very much alive.

It's lovely to hear that you have your cat with you. Sometimes, when things feel scary, focusing on a pet can really help ground us back into the present moment. I hope your cat has been taking very good care of you.

I know you mentioned needing rest. After trauma like the one you described, your nervous system is likely on high alert. Try to be gentle with yourself. If taking a long rest feels too hard, even just small moments of quiet can help.

I am really glad that you're here. You've proven you're a fighter by winning the appeal. Now, I hope you can find a little bit of peace that you deserve 💚

This whole thing is not over the legal aide isn't over I'm just not under the mental health act anymore I love music I used it as my voice as I was voiceless but that didn't work either listen to the mental health anthem for 2025 by lyrical lantern thank u for yr kind words

@Youmatter

I appreciate you sharing that. It is certainly important to acknowledge that even though you're not under the Mental Health Act, the "legal" side of things still feels like a heavy weight for you to carry. It's okay to feel like the battle isn't over yet. Legal processes are very draining, and it takes a lot of mental energy to keep navigating them 💚

It is so moving that you used music as your voice when you felt voiceless. Even if it didn't feel like it worked at the time to change the system, music is such a powerful way to hold on to yourself when things feel out of control.

While the legal aid process continues, I hope you're able to find small moments today when you can just "be" 💚

Re: #burnthementalhealthact

thank u it is hard to just be sometimes all I ever wanted was my piece of mind back and someone kind to talk to sometimes I don't think I can do it but then I rise I feel impowered during the day when it gets dark it gets dark I am scared at night and I have nightmares about the police kicking my doors in 4 times and incarcerated me for 11 days for misuse of a carriage service for ringing 000 in a genuine mental health crisis while under the mental health act!!

@Youmatter

I can hear how painful it is to have had a genuine cry for help turned into a legal issue like "misuse of a carriage service." To feel punished for reaching out in a crisis would feel like a deep betrayal of trust, and it makes total sense why the night and the memory of those doors being kicked in feel so terrifying. Your body is trying to protect you from a repeat of that trauma, even if you are safe in that moment 💚

It's okay that you feel empowered during the day and scared at night. Many people, for different reasons, find that high alert feeling gets louder when the world goes quiet.

I know you mentioned just wanting your peace of mind back. That takes time to rebuild when it was taken away from you so abruptly. Please be patient with yourself on the "dark" nights.

I am wishing you a calm day and night. Lean into that "rise" whenever you can, but know that it is okay to just "be" when things feel heavy 💚

Speaking the truth also matters.

I am glad some people have responded already.

I too, am a cat person and have used music as my voice as I was silenced a lot in life. I also personally feel traumatised by witnessing what the oppressive, mechanistic so called mental health services have done to my family, with the use of police. Whether it be chemical or physical, a regulatory body for the services ought do a few more studies and enquiries or commissions into the HARMS committed by people being paid by the taxpayer. Hmmm.

Do your best to manage your mental health, your way, with whatever expertise speaks to you.

I have to go to visit the hospital,now, where, yesterday, I saw an (imho) NPD consultant psychiatrist who failed my son 12 years ago. Yesterday, he was pretending to be charming and smarmy to me, during my son's crisis. If he had done the job he was paid to do back then things may have evolved better.

Many poor little psychiatrists dont know how to make a therapeutic relationship, but they are being paid enough for it. Often there is a $90 gap fee, if they wont bulk bill. Still getting a halfway decent private psychiatrist may help keep you off the involuntary or community orders.

Yes, we all do matter. A lot of us are suffering.

Good luck with it all.
