Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Hi there people thx for having me. 1st post so l this is an ok place for depression as l couldn't find a depression section.

lt seems to me crazy especially at this stage but l'm just so damn stuck about my situation and just can not seem to be able to come up with a decision on what to do with it.

l didn't do well getting rid of my house but l did still also have a block of land in a small town. My ex and l bought it yrs back it was just suppose to be an investment but now because of the way things went with my house, it's looking like the best solution from here would be to just build something on the block. There's no debt on the block at all now and l do have small savings left that l could build a simple house with so financially it'd be ideal as l'd have no debt or mortgage.

Problem is a few things.

1stly, although l moved to regional area awhile back now, l grew up in the city but the town here at the block is tiny, no shops just a pub. Nearest decent town is 45k away.

The block does have a small cabin on it and l;ve been staying 6mths now supposedly figuring out whether l wanna build on it of not.

lt is a pretty block and spot and l'd have no debt if l just stayed here, where as not only don't l feel up to moving any more but l can't afford to now or to take on a new mortgage either after the house loss but somewhere better would be much much dearer and there'd be no way without one.

Trouble is, the town depresses the hell out of me especially at night every night l just sink again even if the day hasn't been too bad, sometimes even quite nice. Night comes round and down l go.

lt's just so damn small and away and at night there's just nothing except house lights on, that's it.

l mean if l had a choice l wouldn't choice to settle here never bought it back when for that at all, it's just the best solution though all round for sure. All round except that l just get so damn depressed out here.

So 6mths and l'm still absolutely nowhere about building something so l'm still just in the little cabin. Trouble with just doing it is, that if this went on and l just hated it here, l might not even be able to sell it and get my money back anyway and it still leaves the same problems above, with going somewhere better anyway.

lt's mad but l don't think l've ever been so stuck in my life.

Best to all.

mr

@TAB

haaa well, that is bloody great then tab, l think , ahh if l got what you meant properly. few things but firstly yeah , hear you on that extra 100k , twas exactly my problem at beginning of this, l should've as well, weirdly similar situation really in ways.

Anyway, yaknow what, l've gotten up some mornings walked outside, or driven into my drive here sometimes, and thought those exact words, how lucky am l .

Thx to everyone here earlier in the thread and their encouragement, along with the few people in my life that l alk this stuff with, low behold, nearly 12mths later now and l think that too. pretty bloody cool l reckon considering where l was at with it all 11mths ago- thread title.

alright it ain't toorak or beach vews, but l've started liking it here and the life but even more, just being debt free and the freedom of all that for the first time in my life too.

alright it was a compromise for sure and a let down for a long while, being here instead of what l'd envisioned for myself at this stage butttttt, end of the day , still not too bad and with so many struggling in this mad australia housing wise these days even at our ages, started feeling grateful really .

So yep, lots of realizations over this 11mths. l've even stated enjoying the drives over to towns or upto my main town, started getting a bit of a routine and really enjoying it, just needed a better cruiser .

Starting the extension and seeing the walls go up just this last few wks has also been huge too bc it's gonna be such a cool little house.

So yeppa, some progress here to about it all and the way you talk about yours, not a bad place to be either mate and eh, doubling your income and getting back into something you enjoy for awhile on top of it- bloody great stuff mate.

Re: Depressed with my situation, later 50s

this one was nearly a bloody big oopsie .

was over at brothers yesterday, and he's gf just happens to be an almost identical build and size as my now ex and she wears similar clothes to.

We we were all outside checking out my new wheels, she walks up bends down to look at something and for a second there, l had a moment lapse, she looked identical to my ex's arse similar jeans and all. Well we use to play about all the time if she did something like that l'd jump her, ahhh, if you get my drift and bugger me, for a few second my body and hands kinda went forward, almost into the same urrr, motions,if you get the drift and almost grabbed her. --- bloody hell. !!!

In my defence, l've had the flu and still really messed up but also a really huge last wk or so- double messed up. And nope l have no interested in his gf or attraction whatsoever even though she s often so similar to my ex.

lt was just a weird lapse for a second there and l've been so messed up it was like back with ex.

Whata shitshow that would've started eh, thk the gods l woke up and slipped away from urrr, her backside.
